Only when there is something to bring up and that is not all the time when a cough loosens some gunk and it starts coming up then it is there.

Not clear I know what I mean maybe you can work it out what I am trying to say.

does your hoarsness happen all the time?

many thanks for your help

My lungs are full of mucus most of the time with severe asthma but having other problems now and got see cardiology.ecg results show problems and xray lungs full.of mucus.AnE think my astma mucus lungs are putting presure on my heart so it wont pump fluid round causing heart probs.Doc got letter today so when read it will sort out apt.hope when seen cardiology they will see if need heart tabs or more asthma meds .Going back to your question my voice is so croaky my voice goes compleatly for days xxx

I had this problem for several weeks until the hospital said I must use a aero chamber when using seretide also,to rinse mouth out after.. It is much better, some days it goes back to hoarse and can't clear my throat, but at least it's not every day. B.

My voice goes croaky sometimes so I feel as though I need to clear my throat when I try to speak. It used to be much worse though and friends say my voice is stronger now I'm on oxygen. Like Rubyb I have a seretide inhaler and was advised to rinse my mouth and gargle after every puff and I think this has helped too. Also when I used my salbutamol inhaler a lot I was told I should use a spacer (is that the same as aero chamber?) as this would stop me losing my voice. Don't know if this is relevant to you, but good luck with your visit to the doc. Hope they find something that helps.

I do if I talk a lot (which I have to with my job) my GP has said its nothing to worry about as it is using my inhaler that does it (non steroid). I find sips of water help.

Hi,

I quite often have a a hoarse voice and at one time was losing my voice completely. This started to happen at the time of my daughters wedding and was panicking that I couldn't do the Father of the Bride speech!! (did manage it with a quick gargle of whiskey, my son in law is a Scot)

About a week later was reading a leaflet from MacMillan Nurses which said that losing your voice without pain was a possible early sign of lung cancer. Naturally I went to see my GPs, spoke to a junior doctor who sent me for an Xray and then to an ENT specialist and a Respiratory Consultant.

Result, no cancer but I had Thrush in my larynx and gave me anti-biotics. He said it was more likely to be caused by my inhalers (Spirava, Symbicort (Budesonide). I went to see the Respiratory Consultant and he checked me over and changed my inhalers. I now take Serevent and QVAR and continue with Spirava and Ventolin when necessary.

I still get hoarse (but no loss of voice) and a cough sometimes clears it, but not always.

Another complication in my case is that as I am hypothyroid and hoarseness is a sign of under medication (according to the ENT Specialist), but until my blood results change the GP wont change the dose!

regards

David

My voice used to go a lot when I was on Simbicort 400/6, I was also suffering a lot from acid reflux, at home I am sleeping on 6 pillows, if I'm away from home it can disapear overnight if I only have 2 pillows. If I double dosed on my ant-acids (esomeprazole) it helped a lot. I did have a Nissan Fundoplication operation last year which has helped a lot, I am off the esomeprazole and ranitadine, not had any voice problem since.

Hi, i suffer this all the time - Hoarse voice, but also a strange sensation of there is something stuck in my throat. Doctor has put this down to acid-reflux, so you could mention this next time you see him / her.

Hi there father 152 yes have hoarse voice now for a very long time, I think its down to our medication that is Inhalers best to use spacer where you can and may I add the spacer should be kept clean wash it once in a while . and drink after using inhalers or gargle, for me though this hoarse voice is not going to go away. Some days are better than others .Also I am on my own most of the time so don't talk too much, had this lung issue for 16 years now ,with Hiatus hernia, so God only knows what maybe coursing this hoarse voice good luck bless you all
