Simple answer is no as long as your "qualifying circumstances" still apply PIP will only apply to those of working age and not to those that have reached pensionable age, unless anybody knows different.

Hi pollyjj. I have been worrying about this for sometime, my last award was only for two years

previous it was three years I also have degenerative disc disease as well as asthma so have to fight each time.. I have just come out of hospital with pneumonia, as I am required to do I notified DWP of my five day stay in hospital,, I asked them what happens to my claim next year (may) do I have to go through more assessments ? I am 63 and Retired due to my condition and can no longer work in a school. I was told that as I already claim DLA my movement on to PIP will not take place untill 2016 and to put my claim in and any changes in January. The PIP only affects NEW claims, those that have not claimed before. I hope this helps others that may be worried. B.

I have read the guidelines on pjp Ruby24 and as I understand it those of working age (like me) who are already on DLA will need to reapply for PIP. Different criteria will appy ie under DLA it is the condition which attracts DLA. Under PIP the main focus is the effect the condition has on you.

They reckon that many of those on the lower rates of DLA will not be able to get PIP thus freeing up more funds for those more severely affected.

I thin its mainly a cost-cutting excercise! x

Go to DWP web sit search PIP.' frequently ask questions' interesting reading.

Looks like you're ok YEAH. I'm 65 2 weeks after the start date AAARGH

Hi Pollyjj I have read up on the rules for PJP and the changes only apply to those of working age. If you are currently on DLA or Attendance Allowance then it won't change for you and you will not need to reapply.

You can read up on it on the government website. direct.gov.uk.

Hope this helps. xx
