steroid inhaler can affect the vocal chords, I find when I am on full dose during winter months this happens from time to time. Usually after the meds in the morning I brush teeth, gargle, then eat breakfast and have a drink to help wash away any med that may have coated the back of throat.

But mention this to your doc next time you visit.

I would speak to your doctor about this. Check the dose of each med prescribed etc.

im on 5ml of salbutamol and 5 ml bromide for the nebulizer then steroid inhaler and prednisalone tablets and antibiotics prob something to do with all them

Just wondering whether you use a spacer for your steroid inhaler? If not, ask your gp for one as this will help prevent voice problems. And the steroid reaches your airways more effectively when inhaled through a spacer. Then rinse your mouth and throat as Zoee has said and you should be ok. If you don't do that you risk developing oral thrush as well as being continually hoarse.

Hi Madmarc, you might have already had an answer to this but i though i would reply anyway. I am a pharmacy technician, working in the community with COPD patients. With all that you have said, the dry powder Symbicort inhaler, is the reason for you sore mouth, oral thrush, horse voice etc.

Please visit you GP and ask him/her to change the dry powder Symbicort to Seretide 250mcg evohaler which is a metered dose inhaler that you should use through a spacer, which is usually a Blue Aerochamber Standard.

Hope this helps, he/she your gp may not want to do this as there is an increased cost with the Seretide evohaler. But by the time your gp has prescribed something for you mouth and prob treated the oral thursh the cost would be increased and way. Its also good practice to rinse you mouth out after each inhaler used.

Hope this helps and good luck, kind regards, ScottyClaret x
