I have been reading the posts mentioning Symbicort. I take Sprivia, Seretide and Ventolin.
Does Symbicort replace Seritide ?

This post may come up twice I'm not sure that the first one went.

In a word, yes. They are both Corticosteroids, and Preventers. Personally, I had trouble with the Symbicort because the resistance on inhalation is quite high, so they switched me to Seretide. I understand also, that Tiotropium (Spiriva) Symbicort & Seretide are pretty much the top drugs for Emphysema.
There is also a relatively new kid on the block for severe Emphysema sufferers, Onbrez Breezhaler a once a day inhaler system that dispenses indacterol. There doesn't seem to be much knowledge of this drug here in the UK and I'm not even sure it has passed it's clinical trials in the here although it is available in the USA.
Thanks for the information Baron. Difficult one really - do I ask to try Symbicort or not, maybe my doctor will advise me. Trouble is I don't think GPs know too much about COPD inhalers.
