Flu vaccine to be offered to all children over the age of 2.

Good Afternoon

I hope everyone is well, my last post was about the weather turning warmer, it has got warmer and more humid so i hope you are all coping well.

Right, back to point - there have been recent articles about the government's new plan to offer the flu vaccination to all children between the ages of 2 - 17, so even children and young people who do not have any underlying health conditions will be entitled to this vaccination. This is hoped to started in 2014 - further information can be found by going to:

Hi Jo,

I saw this discussion on tv a few weeks back, it is such a good idea although I think possibly some young Mum's won't want their chiId vaccinated. But for the elderly and those with damaged lungs it will help a lot of people avoid lung infections and improve quality times for lung patients with children and grandchildren.

i agree with Zoee - i have 7 grandchildren and one or the other always seems to have a cough or cold - so i avoid them.

I have been trying for a couple of years to get my employer to subsidie staff getting the flu jab but they wont have it -

Hi Zoee and Krazylady

As young children's immune systems are more more vulnerable they can be more likely to catch the flu, again this has a knock on effect with other people with low or damaged immune systems such as people with lung conditions.

A great idea to protect the likes of us, though what happens to the child's immune system development as it depends on getting bugs to fight to build the body's own resistance ???
