Hi Melly,
I have severe obstructive asthma, often referred to as copd as my asthma has remodelled my airways to the extent i now have only 16% lung function left so I fully understand what you are going through. I am on non invasive ventilation (bipap) 20 hours a day and oxygen 24/7. I nebulise 5 different products, approx 30 nebulas a day and on masses of assorted inhalers and tablets and steroid dependant. You are not alone, so many people think asthma is just a blue puffer! I often pop on here if you need an understanding "friend" Best of luck to you xxx
Welcome Melly,
Even though we are not all diagnosed with the same lung condition or respiratory obstruction we can all appreciate and understand how difficult it can be.
So sorry some people have made cruel comments to you. Rest assured we are all here together in support of one another.
As rattles says, you are not alone.
Hope you are feeling better soon.
Auntymary xx
HI Melly
I suffer with severe brittle asthma, although to look at me you'd think I was fine. I know what you mean about people not understanding and being cruel. I had to give up work over 5 years ago (I'm now 35) because of my asthma and related problems. But as Monty Python says "always look on the bright side of life".I no longer have to sit in rush hour traffic or buy special clothes to wear for work!
Seriously though, life can be tough but you have to keep smiling otherwise the asthma wins
Hi Melly,
I too suffer with severe brittle asthma and I am on 24hour oxygen which people look and comment on a regular basis and it is not always nice so I know what cruel comments you get. I still try to go to work but it is getting more difficult and I now only work part time but I am determined my asthma is not going to stop me doing what I want to do.
Best wishes x
Hello, I am not sure how to ask this so will just cut too it. There is a bronchitis part to my copd when coughing is it best to spit it out or swallow. Feel it is not clean to carry it around in my bag and it looks bad when people see you spitting.
thank you Ethel
DavidMillar the site is not just for people with COPD, its for everyone with a lung condition, breathing difficulty, respiratory obstruction etc. There are many different lung / respiratory conditions and all are welcome here.
