Merry Christmas to you all hope you are all having a healthy relaxing festive break. Just a question; have any of ever considered a lung transplant, or discussed it with your consultant or been through the process. I ask as I have hypersensitivity pneumonitis and pulmonary fibrosis. The fibrosis has worsened a lot in the last 4 months. I've always thought I wouldn't have a transplant but I cant live with more of my health declining. I feel ready to go for it of course I may not be accepted but I'll try.

Lung transplant
I’m sorry to read you’re suffering more and more. What were your reasons for not considering a transplant before? I don’t have anything near as debilitating and so wouldn’t have that dilemma, hopefully. Transplants truly are the gift of life. Big ol’ scary surgery but you’ll be asleep! Talk it over with your consultant before it no longer becomes an option and take care 🦊x
Yes! And I went through it. Five years ago. I am doing well although it is not an easy road at all. I don't think surviving the operation is the hardest thing to be honest. Life post transplant can be challenging but it has it's merits of course. Please ask specific questions if you have any. I and and a few others here have been through this whole process. I would also recommend joining a transplant support group. There is just so much to learn about the whole experience, the medications, rehabilitation and precautions that we need to take to stay healthy. I highly recommend going on with your eyes wide open and learning all you can. Well, that's my approach anyway and it has served me well so far. I truly wish you the very best! Cas 🤗
Good luck, whatever you decide.
I was under the Harefield transplant clinic until recently. I was provisionally discharged as I had remained stable and managed to improve my lung function a little. I had 6 monthly appointments which meant a whole day at the hospital as you have loads of tests then a chat with the consultant, physios, respiratory nurses , palliative care etc. Often there were other professionals there too learning about the process. We learnt after the first appointment to take snacks, books etc.! 🤣
Yes, I had a double lungTX at Wythenshawe hospital 5years and 7 months ago. I would be happy to answer any questions that I can regarding the process and procedure.
Good luck Cazza, which ever route you take. x
