Hi to all my lovely new friends who have been helping me the last few days In advance I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes
So.. I saw my cardiologist he said my holter monitor showed a lot of missed beats and that whenever I did move around my heart rate when quickly up
He explained he wasn't worried about this , they showed there coming from one of the chambers I'm not to sure but anyway he did an ultrasound and everything was absolutely fine he said the only thing ultrasound doesn't show is if the arteries are blocked and I don't present with any of signs of that so he isn't worried
He's advised me to try a very low dose of bisoprolol just once a day for the next 3 weeks and then hes's going to see me again I explained I can feel my heart rate and these funny beats all the time he said some people can and some people don't even know it's happening
All my blood work is normal and also did another chest x-ray he said for now he doesn't think I another scan has the ultrasound shows him more than enough, he said if anything was wrong he would of seen it when doing the scan.
But will see me in 3 weeks anyway, he told me please don't worry.
I'm obviously now worrying about the medication and possible side effects, but I can always feel my heart beating not right and it's destressing and very uncomfortable that I feel I need to try to make this go away and settle down.
Anyone's experiences with this med I'd like to hear from you if possible and then hopefully I'll pick up the courge to take it π
Hope your all well thank you all so much for being so supportive and kindness you all showed me it means a lot

Hi Amy. I don't have any experience with this medication but I do have experience with taking A LOT of new drugs. Some of which are just plain vile. So I will say this, taking new meds for the first time is always a little daunting. But they are prescribed for a reason, largely to protect your health and to give you a better quality of life. And, you won't know till you try. Everyone is different with differing experiences. My advice to you is to pop it in, wash it down and get on with your day as normal. Don't over think it. Give it a chance and if it's not good, well you cross that bridge when you get to it. xx π€
Thank you Carole. We have been friends for many years now Hope it continues for many more. Wishing you and Pete a very happy Xmas and even happier 2025. I'm feeling nostalgic xx.Sheila

Thank you, weβre all in the same boat here, just different storms at times, but everyone is brilliant here with help & advice, so you never feel alone, always check in when you feel the need, take care & look after yourself xx ππ€π
Hi Amy, thanks for the update. I have Atrial fibrillation so sometimes my heart beats fast and irregularly which is horrible so I can empathise with you. I take a low dose Bisoprolol every day but have been told I can take more if needed up to 10mg per day. Iβve only ever taken up to 5mg though on a few occasions. It helps control a fast heartbeat and works well so do try it.
Thank you, how long did it take to start working if you don't mind me asking? I'm glad it's helpful for you thanks for the positive comment Although I'm sorry to read you suffer heart problems also
I am glad to read you have something that provides some relief
Pretty much straightaway l think. Iβm sure youβll find it a good med to take. Thank you for your kind words and have a good Christmas. ππππ₯°
Bisopralol is a much used beta blocker. I have been taking it since 2013. It is used in AF to help regulate blood pressure and the heart beat. It can have a relaxing effect when first taken and has sometimes been used for anxiety. Give the low dose a go and see if it helps your symptoms.
Hello Amy - I don't have the same illness as you, although I can understand the stress and worry of not knowing what is happening to you. It sounds like your cardiologist knows what he's on about (getting the proper care is half the battle). I hope your health settles soon. Take care x
Good morning Amy Amy, I'm sorry I know next to nothing about bisopralol however I'm sure that anxiety and stress isn't good for any of us. It's brilliant that the consultant was so encouraging and well done you for taking on board everything he said, also great that he'll see you in 3 weeks. I too would try the medication if it was prescribed for me I always read the leaflets thoroughly and keep a copy of them for all meds in my medication box for future reference, they always cover everything we need to know such as taking after meals etc & how long it takes before they work.
Good luck and can I suggest you look up Deep Diaphragm Breathing on youtube, it's absolutely brilliant at calming us when worrying, stressed or anxious. I use it often in the night when worries seem huge & I can't sleep, calming my pulse, getting more oxygen in and just exercising all the little ribcage muscles and of course the big one called the diaphragm.
This is a very positive comment thank you , I do need something like this to try because yes panic can get hold of me sometimes Thank you again, I'll give this a go!
I'm on bisoprol for heart arrhythmia.i tolerate it well.they start u on a low dose,to see if your OK on it & what optimum dose for Yr heart is.despite being on higher dose,I've no side effects .Yr consultant sounds v gd.x
Thank you, yes I'm on a very low dose he said 1.250mg have taken one yesterday and one today so far but haven't seen any improvement Do you know how long they take to start working and you start feeling better?
Thanks for the reply, I do appreciate it take care of you and happy holidays ππππ
Hi my husband takes this .he was quite ill and heart failure developing with similar heartbeat problems after some trials with other medication he responded well to these meds and has been stable now on them for several years.
I take Bisopralol and have been fine. I used to have skipped beats quite alot which as you say is uncomfortable and a fast resting heart rate. It took me a long time to find the right medication for high blood pressure and I am fine in this. Hope it works well for you too x
Good luck with your new medication, you have quite a few positive comments here from people on the same medication, hope it settles down soon for you, have a great Christmas π & New Year πππ€Άxx
I took that med last year and it slowed my heart too much. Took a lower dose and it affected my breathing and I was getting up too many times during the night for the loo! GP agreed I could stop them. It was thought I may have angina but I didnβt thankfully. Give them a try and see how you go. You can always try a different brand as different brands have different ingredients
I' ve been on Bisoprolol since I had bypass surgery in 2014. No side effects at all- and no more heart problems, touch wood. I'd take it as your consultant suggests.
Thank you foryour kind words about this group. xxx
Thank you for the reply and reaching out to me it's appreciated truly, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles so thank you for listening and responding to mine
I'm glad the medication has helped you, I have taken it so I'm hoping to get some relief soon fingers crossed π€
My kind words about the group are very true people like yourself have been very supportive and I'm so very thankful
I know I have problems spelling so I am sorry if people can't always understand what I write , but thank you for being one of the kind people towards me I am grateful indeed
sorry i canβt help you with the medication but just wanted to say I also experience skipped heartbeats and know how uncomfortable that feeling in the chest is. Mine have slowly gotten worse over the years. It is to the point now where if I do something even a little strenuous it is skipping every beat for several minutes rather than just the occasional one. My oximeter shows my pulse at half of what it actually is because of the skipped beats. I know it sounds silly to say it skips every beat as that would mean it isnβt beating at all, but apparently what feels liked skipped beats is actually a premature beat so you have two beats that are very close to each other and then no beat where that second beat should be. I have had a few heart monitors over the years as it has gotten worse but each time they tell me it is harmless no matter how uncomfortable it makes you feel.
