Cancelled ILD appointments
I hate that when you psyche yourself up for appointments only to get told at the last minute it's been postponed!
I’ve had one lung function test since the start of covid, but I haven’t had a f2f appointment with my consultant since 2019.
Good morning ProudYorky,
I'm really sorry to hear that you've not been able to see your consultant for 2 years.
Would it be possible for you to call us on our helpline number and we can arrange for you to initially speak to one of our respiratory nurses? Our friendly respiratory nurses would be happy to support you and discuss anything you are concerned about. We are open Monday-Friday 9.15am-5pm on 0300 222 5800 (Option 3).
If you have breathing difficulties, new symptoms, or a worsening of symptoms, please contact your GP or NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency.

Unfortunately, some areas of the NHS need chasing. My wife is on six month appointments for her eyes, but to get the appointment, she has found she needs to go in and ask.
I don't know if the hospitals are so far behind after covid, but nothing has gone back to normal and wonder if they are now cutting back . My consultant discharged me saying there was nothing more he could do for me. I had to get my gp to refer me to a specialist at a different hospital x
Hi. It’s a problem with most departments I would say. My husband has glaucoma and needs to be seen frequently however it can be a more like 6 months instead of weeks. The clinics are very busy. His recent one week apart appointment had to be 2 weeks. Take care. X
There is a dreadful and unacceptable postcode lottery in the UK. I recently moved from north Wales where the service I got from the nhs was just awful; referrals getting 'lost', test results going astray, continually being told my appointment was delayed due to 'staff shortages', etc etc. Now in NE England and so far - so much better!!!
