Hi , I’ve just recently had a Phillips / Respironics EverFlo Oxygen Concentrator delivered and would like to know how much per hour we get towards the running costs of it ?
Im currently using it for 16 hours a day and have noticed quite an increase in my daily electricity usage
Thanks in advance for any info

BOC told me they would read my concentrator meters after the first 3 months and this would generate a refund paid to my personal bank account which I am expecting in the next few days. I don't know yet how much it will be per hour or indeed per unit of electricity.
I was told that the next refund will be six months later and based on the first reading. The meters will then be read again after another six months, ie a year from the first reading. I suggest you, Rich 1957, and Will57 as well, both need to talk to your oxygen suppliers about this.
Thanks Difficul I’ve just sent BOC a message asking them how I claim and the cost , hopefully they’ll reply . If not I’ll be bombarding them with calls 🤦♂️😂😂
Hi Rich, they should be able to tell you so hope you get a reply soon.
Otherwise phone them and ask to speak to the department who manage the electrical cost refunds.
The POC’s are quite energy efficient so it won’t be using a fortune. It will have a counter in it somewhere which the technician will take a reading of when they service it every 6 months ?
Static concentrators have a counter on the exterior of the machine which we can take a reading of ourselves and submit monthly for refund if need be or when the technician services it, or changes the equipment.
The refund/reimbursement will be in line with the current electricity unit rate.
I’m with Vivasol and they are brilliant at sending me the cost of running my concentrators. I’m on oxygen 24/7. BOC are the ones who will be able to answer your question.
I'm with Vivisol and according to their website the NHS currently compensate you 22.30p per unit. This will be altering starting from October due to energy costs increasing. I am currently compensated £44 per month for my static concentrator which I use 24/7.
Thanks Nickcv I thought it was around 6/7p per hour to run so around £1-10 per day which is about the same rate you say . Obviously you are on 24 hrs while I’m on 16 hrs so my bill in theory would be 2/3rds of yours . All the best and thanks again ❤️
Hi Rich, I've been using a concentrator at home for the last 10 months I use it from around 6pm until 8am the next morning. When I'm idle its on 2 when I walk its on 5. I also use it all day Saturday/Sunday apart from the odd hour when I'm out. My monthly direct debit has gone up twice and I'm now paying £150 a month. The NHS said I should get help with my bills the company always refer me back to the NHS. I can't see anywhere on the converter where there is a meter. Good luck I wish you well.
Hi lvd29 mine has a hour counter in the side hence me wanting to know how much an hour I would get back . It looks like it’s 6/7p per hour so just over a £1 a day . My electric bill is bad enough so I just wanted to check I’d get the £30 ( roughly ) back each month ❤️
As I said, BOC have just read the meters on my concentrators. However, when I looked on their website to see what they had recorded, I noticed that one of them was for 1,000 hours too many. I can only suggest that other users may wish to keep an eye on this even though reading the meters is a bit fiddly.
Not sure this is helpful but I have had a Inogen processor since February which is for ambulatory oxygen. BOC told me that it had to be used for 300 hours before a refund was made,
Thanks Jackwok I’m with BOC as well so I can believe you need 300 hours before you can claim . I know yours is different as it’s a carry concentrator and mine is a stand alone one but I’d think the same rules apply . I should use mine for 480 odd hours per month so hoping to get it paid monthly .
They are good with me along with my consultant and oxygen team at the hospital they also got me a large oxygen container for me to use with a tread mill I use
