There are some sorts of heather which don't mind alkaline soil, Ericas, I think, but I can't really remember. They're the wintr flowering ones, definitely. I've got one in the garden at the moment for any bees that are out in the winter. My garden is on chalky boulder clay.

We're currently in Northumberland visiting Holy Island and the area. Off to Carlisle tomorrow for a couple of days then off home. We've started working through our bucket list (me and hubbie, that is, not Jasper 🫣😄

Hi we are all good here .. I'm hoping the bucket list is a very long and happy one haven't even thought of mine yet ..is it something that needs planning or does it just happen...Don't stop at Carlisle head that little bit further over thr border to my beautiful homeland ...Scotland...
