Could be a number of things. For instance, specks of old blood caused by coughing bouts during the infection which are now breaking down, residual gunk finally coming up after not smoking for some time, specks from air pollution released as the lungs are clearing.
The main positive is at least the specks are coming up and out rather than staying in the lungs.
