Asthma review

A nurse came to my house to do an asthma from my temporary gp surgery. She was lovely, checked my inhalers and one I find difficult to use with my arthritic hands, she is going to try to change. Most impressive was that she had brought me information about bronchiecstasis! I was diagnosed by a consultant at my local hospital, a huge teaching hospital, in 2012. I have never been given any info, nor spoken to a bronchiecstasis specialist. My lung consultant is an asthma man.

What a great visit from the asthma nurse Helen. She seemed very efficient. I hope you can now get referred to a bronch specialist and I wish you good luck with everything. Xxxx❤️

Being referred to a bronch consultant would be good but I’m already seen by 5 different in one hospital and 2 in an orthopaedic hospital, another one might just push me over the edge!

Never Helen but I do think it’s important. Lots of love and good wishes, Carole xxx🤗👍❤️

That sounds an excellent visit. You really should have been given some info about bronch when you were diagnosed. But most of us seem to have learned more on this forum than we have from clinicians. I hope the new nurse will be able to improve your quality of life.xxx

I’m going to mention it to my asthma consultant when I next speak to him - I haven’t had a f2f consultation since 2019 because I’m immunosuppressed and they said it was too much of a risk going into the hospital with the Covid. She’s also going to see if she can change one of my inhalers to one which is easier for arthritic hands!

I think I was so shocked with the bronchiecstasis diagnosis - id never heard of it and I didn’t think to ask for information, but I’ve learnt loads from this group.

That sounds like a positive review. Like you I was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis 4 years ago by CT but never been seen. The lung consultant I was seeing at the time for lung nodules said to treat it as Asthma which I’ve had since childhood then he discharged me. This group have been very helpful with advice on management.
