I have enjoyed being on the forum and much appreciated the advice shared and all your stories but I have become increasingly worried about information being passed to Google and Facebook. Yes, one can choose which cookies to accept but trying to go through the endless options is getting too much for me. Has anyone else had qualms about this issue?

Posts need to be locked so only the forum members can have access. When you have finished writing your post, scroll down to the bottom and you’ll see where to lock the post. Many members do this but those that don’t risk anyone and everyone seeing what has been written. Take care xxx
Thank you for responding but although the forum is private by accepting cookies Google and Facebook have access as stated on the page listing cookies and to opt out one has to scroll through all these. These are used for information I would prefer not to share with these companies.
I was just going to say exactly the same sassy! x
I didn't know you could lock your post so going to try it now. A question first.....do I hit reply before I scroll down? Sorry. Not sure what I'm doing!
It might be worth contacting HU at privacy@healthunlocked.com for information on which data is shared with Facebook and Google. My functionality cookies are switched off, but I note that Facebook and Google appear exempt. However, I can't see how they would access your data without some sort of link - hopefully, HU will know.
I agree I wish this information were not shared with them but on the other hand if it were not I would have never found this forum.
I can appreciate your concerns, but my philosophy is that if other people know that I am old and grumpy, take a handful of pills in the morning, so what. If they try to steal my bank details, all I ask is they let me now if they`ve found anything. Take care and try not to worry. BTW feeling +ve this morning, the sun is shining and I have work to do. Cheers, Chris.
Thanks Chris, as another grumpy old woman I am not particularly concerned about my own details (would like to make them more colourful for interesting reading!) but FB and Google invade every bodies lives . There was an article this week about trying to to stop them from being exempt from cookie choices.
My wife has already mentioned FB and Google. I don`t use FB but I do use Google search engine all the time. I rarely use my smartphone unless wife nags me to take it with me, but my computer is on from morning till night. I don`t seem to be particularly invaded by anythong, other than idiot MPs back in UK. Must get back to work before I opt for a glass of wine. BTW, my personal details are not very colourful either. Take care, Chris.
I would suggest going incognito on google and make sure that you clear your history every so often. Make sure that your private details are not visable on facebook and as for this forum do as Sassy says and keep it locked. I know its a pest to keep checking on every site that you visit to say opt out of things but there are embedded cookies that we cant get out of that we dont see. Get an antivirus on your tablet/computer to help. We can only try our best to be safe and keep our wits about us but try not to worry over it all x
No one likes cookies but they are an inevitable part of internet life this days unfortunately.
I would advise you to lock this post. On your device you will find an edit button somewhere. Click on it and amend it.
If you don't then your full post and all the replies can go viral and even end up on any social media site as well as google.
If locked then only the first 245 characters are visible so the links would still be there directing people here.
It's also a good idea to check other posts for being locked before you give out anything more than generic responses.
You can also go back too and delete your older posts/replies for more safety.
I didn’t know about locking! I’m worried now
I don't care if the whole word can see my facetious/ funny posts. I would only lock something that related to other people or was on a serious subject. It might be useful if you could lock responses to posts.
Having spent over 50 years working in the electronics/communication industries it’s simple, if you don’t want your data out there stay completely of the internet, don’t use a smartphone or any smart tech. There are some internet communications systems that are encrypted end to end but even they can be accessed with the right tools.
Hey Ho Biker. That is true - just don't use the internet etc but we have got used to the ease of looking things up and accessing information quickly. By the way I still haven't figured out to lock my mail ! But there are too many other things to worry about (including FB and G)! Can I go for a walk while the sun is still shining in the beautiful blue sky this morning. Got to get priorities straight.
To be honest I've never give that a thought
