Bricking it now....thoracoscopy due on Thursday morning and I'm terrified....has anyone here had it done? I just hate pain of any sort even though I know I'll have sedation - Fentanyl and Midazolam -I'm still really, really panicking....😒🙄

Oh dear....is it very painful/uncomfortable? How long did it take you to recover? How long did you stay in hospital? Is a drain uncomfortable? I'm sorry for the questions but I really am terrified....thank you...x

I wish you well. If you are able to get yourself in a calm state of mind, (not easy I know) it will help. X

Sometimes trying so hard can make you tense Sue32. Are you able to sit quietly, focus on breathing deeply and slowly. Maybe some meditation music, available online.People tell me to put my big girl pants on

Hello 😃 I was terrified of having my cataracts done. I could not believe that I wouldn't feel anything. But I didn't! I am sure the same will be for you, and that it is more the thinking about it beforehand. I have had a drain before (emergency caesarean ) and that didn't hurt, just tickled as they removed it! I am sure you will look back and laugh at yourself, but I will be thinking of you on Thursday 😊 Let us know how you get on xx

Thank you. I think when you live alone you do tend to over think things. I'm full of 'what ifs' right now. I just have to pretend I'm an adult and get on with things....xx

Yep, c'mon girlie, Big Pants Time! My daughter takes me to most appointments (she uses my car) , which forces me to be an adult , and my granddaughter calls me a cissy! You'll be fine 😘 xx

Talking about "What if's"and all that, why not tip the negatives into positives e.g. "What if I could fly during the operation?" or "What are the pleasures I can look forward to as I am recover from the operation".It's just a shift of your perspective and imagination and that shift may aid your healing. Very best wishes. 🙏🙏🙏

Not had one but all the best for tomorrow. I never take overnight stuff in as I'm usually still in my hospital gown when I have had stuff done ! Just take washing kit, brush/comb etc and my meds:)

All the very best to you hope the procedure is quick and painless, the thought of something is very often worse than the actual thing but I’m sure I’d be the same!

You can do it, just look at it that it has to be done for your benefit and it will soon be over. You won’t remember a thing but you might be a bit sore after, so what. You did it.

Good luck Sue
