Hi, i have an undiagnosed condition which is causing shortness of breath and Trachacardia. I am on 4 long waiting lists. I am housebound and cant even walk the dog. Despesperate for suggestions as need my breathing restored.

A return visit to your GP should solve your breathing problem, as they are the first port of call, regardless your having seen him before.

Get in touch with your surgery this morning be insistent of your need to have a face to face meeting asap.

Repeat what u wrote in the forum, repeat repeat, don’t b put off, e.g. emphasise your breathing problem and being unable to walk.

I have been to A and E and admitted 3 times. When i ring the docter theres no appointment for 4 weeks. When my sick leave entitlement runs out i could loose my house while i wait for his appt. So frustrating. See my post today - finally think i have worked it out as Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

Well said, Bernadine. When you see your GP ask for inhalers- Ventolin relief inhaler and one to be taken everyday to control the breathing difficulties. Also ask him/her to try to hurry the consultations along. Try to be as active as you can within the house, but in very small doses. Best wishes. xxx

I have ventalin but it makes no difference. I think my wind pipe is blocked.

You need help from your GP - Reading you post you should be seen, fast heart and breathing problems can be scary. Take care and be seen.

Hi JC, and welcome. I suffer from emphysema diagnosed by accident in 2017 had 4 holes in the top of my lungs now they say about 8-10 holes all over the lungs (don’t feel any different) but have trouble breathing like stairs, I can only do a couple of steps and have to stop and reset and go again so as you can imagine it can take a while. I used to do the hoovering and cleaning but my wife has stopped me even though our flat is the size of a postage stamp lol. Have your GP’s given you any indication what maybe the cause? As previous answers you have to keep on at the doctors (kindly) and ask them to chase your referrals. I’m now on two inhalers one is salbutamol for emergencies and if you’re out and about which I was given first then when COPD was confirmed they started me on a daily inhaler (2puffs in the morning) had to go through six different inhalers to find the right one. Also if you have a pharmacy near you ask them for advice. Good luck hope you get the answers you need. Kevin

Thank you. I missed all these kind replys. Think i have Hashimoto's thyroiditis now i have paid for some tests. Lets hope they do something. Never realised the NHS was such a minefield.

If you can't breath properly then you should keep pestering them for help besides waiting on lists. Crikey they make my blood boil 😤 good luck 👍

Call 111 and ask for advice when you are struggling to breathe, they can send a paramedic to check you out or fast track a GP appointment. My GP won’t book appointments and directs people to 111 first. (The surgery is over loaded as they have had to take patients from another practice which has closed and several doctors have left)

This has happened to me for the last 6 months. In and out of hospital - all failed to realise i had a Goitre on my windpipe. Still wtg for them to acknowledge and treat this. I can hardly breath and have ENT 15th Jan.

It’s not nice when you can’t breathe properly, I know on a daily basis but when I don’t feel right I know I can ring my clinic and get in to see someone. You really do need this sorting, if you get extremely out of breath ring 999 and don’t hesitate as it’s your life but please see your GP and tell him how this is making you feel as your quality of life now is low

As you are housebound from this, I'd call the paramedics - they can be more helpful than the doctor, as they have more on the spot monitoring equipment.

I had unexplained heart rhythm issues and breathlessness. They spent two years investigating cardiac issues. Then they realised it was asthma, causing the heart issues. So they basically wasted 2 years

My asthma was initially diagnosed by my gp asthma nurse, who stabilised it with inhalers.

So there are many complex causes of breathlessness, but make sure your gp asthma nurse does the basic checks on you for asthma at an early stage in the process.

Asthma, EDAC/TBM, cardiac asthma, emphysema, copd .... to name but a few things that i know that can cause breathing difficulties and tachycardia.

My heart rate was constantly over 100bpm and peaked at 185bpm .... and I kept having on and off breathing episodes, fainting of an evening (fine the rest of the time) until I eventually pushed for diagnosis and treatment.... its taken 8 years but I've got answers

If u look on aluk website,theyve info + videos on breathing techniques which may help u.i find " controlled breathing techniques"- pursed lips,very helpful and may help with Yr breathing + tachycardia. X
