A Golden Pot Of Impressionist Flowers.

Hi,

I was going to post another 'Halloween' painting, but decided another day.

I don't normally paint flowers but a couple of years ago I painted a few semi abstract but nice colored flowers.

I thought I would post this pot of impressionistic flowers as this was the only one of it's kind I did.

It is pure impressionism. The pot was painted 80% in metallic gold paint, I added a bit of yellow to tone down the gold a bit.

I know this type of painting not everyone likes, I though it would be a change.

My mum loved gypsopyllia as she called it and always stuck a bit in her vases. We had to be careful where cricket balls ended up. Some plants were sacred; others less so. Your painting is really cheerful. You are following in the footsteps of Van Gogh and a lot of clever Dutchmen. xxx

Thank you - Van Gogh was the artist for me - He rally made a painting talk , Vincent Van Gogh Wheat Field with Cypresses was my fav painting.

Is that the one with the crows? Love that too and also the starry nights ones.

Ern007 profile image
Ern007 in reply toAlberta56

Wheat field with crows is very dramatic - Yes his sky's were special, his brush strokes was unique. Wheat Field with Cypresses had conifer type trees. The Church at Auvers showed another side of Van Gogh.

You obviously know VvG better than I do. My first encounter with him was as a child in the Tate Gallery, wondering why anyone should want to paint a yellow chair.

Ern007 profile image
Ern007 in reply toAlberta56

I am no expert on Van Gogh - i watched a brilliant series on BBC1 about the life of Van Gogh when i was in my 20s - The yellow Wicker Chair, I guess only he would have painted that and nothing else.

Alberta56 profile image
Alberta56 in reply toErn007

I love the yellow chair now.

Ern007 profile image
Ern007 in reply toAlberta56

There is a lot to that painting - "Nothing else" was wrong - The red tiles blue walls brings the chair to life. Which is your favorite RVG painting?

Alberta56 profile image
Alberta56 in reply toErn007

Not sure. starry night, I think.

Ern007 profile image
Ern007 in reply toAlberta56

That would be a great choice - So would the Wheat field, hard to choose.

An uplifting cheerful painting - thank you Ern 🙂. Not entirely sure what impressionist art is but it's lovely anyway 👍(Guessing it means 'looks like the real thing' but I'll look it up 🙂) xxx
