I feel for you. My Mum had bronchiectasis and always felt like sputum was stuck in her throat. Are you on mucus thinners for it? She also had an aerobika to try and help shift it too. Other people say to drink plenty of fluid, try to avoid dairy ( Mum loved milk). I dont know if steam may help. Or the Active Cycle of Breathing Technique. Maybe you need to push to see a respiratory physio to help you. Good luck. Ceri

I drink water when sputum is stuck at the back of my throat, which usually shifts it for me, but possibly not for everyone- we're all different.

Thanks, I have seen warm water with lemon and honey, so may try that.

I use my nebuliser a few times a day when mucas build up is bad. Montelukast also helps. Clearance techniques shown by the physio also helps

Hi Teralea, I sometimes get mucus up as far as my throat then it gets stuck and it feels like it's choking me. When I asked the lovely people on this site one of the suggestions was to use Vic as an inhalant. I find this really helps xx

Yes I found it very useful. A some amount in hot water. I am on a nebuliser at present but I find it raises my BP. Thankyou, you did discribe it perfectly. I may go back to that as it did help.

Have u tried gargling as far back as u can? I find it helps and tspn clear honey coats throat, may ease it.i also find controlled breathing- pursed lips breathin, helps to relax throat+ vocal chords, to ease it x

Thank you for your reply, I will certainly take on board your comments and try both of your ideas.

I agree gargling can help. And then spit out the results-not very nice but necessary.
