good evening everyone.., where I am the humidity is extremely high & for us with copd this makes it so much harder to breathe. It’s been a rough few days in that respect.. the humidity will fall by tomorrow meaning i can do a bit more than virtually nothing.. making the most of every day, what a time to be alive, have a great Monday 😊

Good morning adenough. I have been diagnosed with Severe copd and Asthma and have not been too bad in the heat. Just sleeping on top of the bed to keep as cool as possible my problem is when getting up in a morning is my coughing every day and getting breathless. Nothing is helping me at all. Hope it cools down to help you. Brian

Definitely for me the last few days have been difficult with breathing it's only the evenings when it's a bit cooler that is easier but no breeze at all is debilitating. Today is so much cooler here

I find the humidity affects my breathing, and the heat we’ve been having affects my joints! It’s much cooler today, thank goodness.

Hi adenough,

I suffer too. I use a hand held fan that you can put cold water in, to help. You can also place it on a table, without holding it, to get air. I have a fan going all night, or I can't sleep at all.

I think the humidity has been high all over the country and has affected alot of people. I dont know why but my rheumatoid is very bad at the moment and I am sure it is down to the weather yet my bronchiectasis is behaving ? very strange . I have always had a problem with being too hot so have been constantly leaking during this spell, its almost like having a tap on the top of my head lol . I am waiting for a hip replacement so struggling if not with the pain then with the heat. I am hoping the weather will now cool down a bit so we can enjoy a bit of sunshine before the autumn kicks in x

I think has got us all.I never slept a wink. It been bad on pain also IZB1 - Morphine has made me sleepy with no sleep, I think we can't win....

I do think a lack of sleep is really sometimes worse than what you are dealing with. If you have had a good nights rest then you can deal with most things . Fingers crossed you get a rest tonight Ern and your pain eases x

Ern007 in reply to Izb1

I agree - What made it worse I had to go to town for eye injection, which I could not have because of eye infection.

I hope for sleep tonight, I think it will be cooler, last night was boiling the worst so far. If I can't sleep I have a cup of Horlicks which works - not last night but I enjoy the taste :-) I agree sunshine would be good without the extreme humidity. I hope you get your appointment soon, my sister in law had both done x

Mmm Horlicks, I haven't had one of those for years, have put this on my list for next delivery. Oh my word why on earth did you need an injection in your eye , grief I can't imagine how that must hurt x

Ern007 profile image
Ern007 in reply to Izb1

I like Horlicks and it does aid sleep, will me anyway - Formula 1 mug Horlicks + 1 Custard Cream.

The injections - I have had for some time 'Age-related macular degeneration' - (WET) Without treatment you can be left with no central vision.

The treatment is LUCENTIS injected into the eye every one to two months. The odd time 3 months,

The cost of this injection is £551 a shot, I think it was a Thousand when I started.

No I don't like the injections in fact I hate going, but better than degeneration (JUST)

So how do I paint with this eye condition? It varies how bad from month to month, I manage anyway wearing reading glasses when I paint - but it is limiting to say when I was younger. x

Hi there,

Yes indeed it’s been an awful time for us with the high levels of humidity!

I use a dehumidifier in my home, which does help a lot. I cam move it from room to room and it’s programmed, so I can choose the humidity That best suits me! This has helped me a lot in the hot humid days! It’s very cheap to run as well. The air is much better, fresher and cleaner due to the filters.

I would recommend these to anyone with lots of humidity in the home and more so on hot/ humid days. The only task one has is to empty the water that has collected and that’s it!

Stay safe, stay as well as possible,

Greetings Sheila.

What’s the name of the one you have, I can order it, much needed phew thanks 🙏 x

Hi,

Well first you have to know the size of the area that the dehumidifier has to function for. I have one that’s works in a space of up to 20 meters! Mainly my living room, where I spend most of my time, then an hour before bed I put it into the bedroom. However, I do not run it all night, none are that quiet that you could sleep soundly.

You need to know the running costs and how much you have are willing to spend on it.

Do some research online, perhaps you can get one in the sales, if there are any going.

I purchased the Lexant for about £100.00. There are bigger ones, but that’s a personal choice, I live in a small home. Read up and take note of hourly running costs, you may be pleasantly surprised and surprised about how much water they collect! The change in air is very noticeable!

Good luck with your purchase, let me know how you get along

Most definitely a problem for all of us with health issues, we are not used to this kind of humidity or heat. Its cooler today and seems it will be staying so for a few days at least. Bet there's been a sell out on fans . My small hand one has been a godsend, just fiddly to charge its USB connect. Enjoy your day now its cooler

It's no joke -is it? Last night was the worst for me - I had to go for injection in town before 9 this morning -I did not sleep a wink, breathing poor and hot, and sweating, hate that.

I still had to go get my injection for WMV -The cruel part was, nurse would not inject in my eye, she said eyes full of gunk and sent me home with a bottle of drops for Conjunctivitis.

It was not quite as hot, but was twice as stuffy seems reading posts you was not on your own .

Hope you are breathing better,
