Anxiety support group

I am looking for an anxiety support group. I have severe anxiety and have no one as support. I do have lung problems along with many health problems. These problems along of the fear of dying because of poor health has caused the worst of my anxiety the past few years as I have aged.

Can't say I blame you about the fear of dying. I am too but fairly healthy. Healthy or not, the fear is always there but it can't stop you from living your best life. I don't have a lot of years left unless I live to 100 and I won't bet on that. It sounds like you're depressed and need therapy and meds to calm you. Please do that and for Easter, start counting blessings instead of being so down. We all have much to be thankful for. Please try. Happy Easter!

Hi, there is an Anxiety Support forum among the many different forums available through HU. You can find them all through the search facility.

I am a member of that group but find the support available from members of this forum far more helpful.

Really feel for you with your anxiety. One of our members used to post meditation video links on here to help people with anxiety, and there is a Health Unlocked group called Anxiety and Depression support where you might be able to find out about groups in your country.

One way I found to start combatting my fears and depression, was to write a gratitude list. Not just a list of bullet points, but something more detailed. For instance: I am grateful I have food in my cupboard, because there was a time when I had no food. I am grateful for the trees in the wood because I feel more peaceful when I stand by them.

I also found my worries and fears started the moment I woke up. So I tried to change what I thought about then, by saying a positive prayer instead of a negative recital of problems and woes. I tried to take each thought prisoner: when I spotted a negative thought dominating my mind, I countered it with something positive. For instance: instead of, I am frightened I am going to die, I told myself, I am alive today and I will make the best of the day I have been given.

It helped me to try to live in today, and not to think too much about the past except to learn from it, or the future. As the saying goes:

Yesterday is history,

Tomorrow's a mystery.

We only have today, and that's a gift:

That's why it's called the present.

Wishing you all the best.

You've taken the first step in asking for support. There are plenty of friends on this site, some of whom also suffer from anxiety. We know that ill health promotes anxiety and anxiety makes health problems worse. Best wishes.

You have to start being Grateful for every day and concentrate on what you can do not what you cant. There are many worse off in this World but still are grateful

Being Positive is the best way forward, stay away from Negative people as they drag you down.

Remember you wont die from a panic attack ,control your breathing and slow it down.

Good luck and be POSITIVE Happy Easter xxSheila 💕⚘🐰🐰🐇🐇🐥🐥

I think it’s very difficult to alter your mindset and takes a lot of work. Try to look for the positives in everything. I also think different therapies affect people in different ways. Some can be helped but for others it’s more difficult. I am speaking from experience of living with someone who has suffered for a very long time. Take care and I hope you find support to help you through 🤗🤗

Depression and Anxiety to a sufferer is hard to shake off without help. I have lots of problems and my GP helped - I have Lorazepam in the day for anxiety and Zopiclone at night to get some sleep.

I don't know about "anxiety support groups" - I think this forum is good.

I think you maybe would be better of getting help from you GP, he can prescribe to help with your fears, don't keep suffering try and get some professional help alongside and forum you may join . Best Wishes Ern
