Just a short post to wish you all a happy Easter and trust you are all feeling as well as can be especially with some of these sunny days. Has anyone had a cataract operation and how long were drops needed I wondered as I cannot put in myself? Bit off subject but about health none the less.

Happy Easter
Happy Easter Katie. The drops after cataracts are a pain and Pete used them for around two weeks I think. I can understand you not being able to do them yourself so I do hope you can get some help.
Wishing you well. Xxxπβ€οΈ
Drops for 4 weeks Carole. Reducing each week from 4 a day to one a day . Happy Easter xxSheila πβ
Thank you Sheila, I couldnβt remember.
Happy Easter to you and family. Xxβ€οΈπβ€οΈπ£
It's an age thing lol ππ€£ only kidding Carole. Hope you and Pete are well. Lovely seeing some sunshine lately. I'm still finding it cold though. Looking forward to Summer. Have a lovely day . xxSheila πβ
It is an age thing Sheila!πLovely day here so hoping to go out. A bit chilly first thing but sunny.
Have a lovely weekend and stay well, Carole xxxπππ
Agree Carole. When I was younger never owned a Winter coat as never felt the cold. Never ever caught a cold either. Once I reached 68yrs old and diagnosed severe COPD it all changed . I now have 3 fur coats lol. Going into Mark's and Spencer food hall I'm dressed like an Eskimo as its so cold in there with all the fridges .(even in Summer) . Oh well hoping for warmer weather soon.
Until then I'll stick to the fur coat and scarf and gloves lol . Have a lovely day xxSheila ππβ
Looking lovely as always Sheila. Keep warm and have a lovely day. Carole xxxβ€οΈ

Hello Katie and happy easter π£ π°I have had both eyes done recently.
L) eye on 1st February and R) eye yesterday..this was delayed as was poorly over the last month.
My surgeon gives Maxitrol eye suspension, 4 drops a day for 2 weeks, then 2 drops a day for further 2 weeks.
Can honestly say my eyesight is now clear and bright. I am so grateful to these extremely gifted people. Still need glasses for reading, new prescription when treatments finnished. Best wishes. Dawn.xx π₯°
Happy Easter Katie. I too am having both eyes done, the first a week tomorrow. Iβm told by everyone whoβs had the ops thereβs nothing to worry about and itβs the best thing ever for your eyesight. Nevertheless Iβm still nervous π Fingers crossed π€πΌ all goes well. Best wishes, Diane π
Nothing to it over in less than 20 mins no pain. Best thing ever now have 20/20 vision in left eye waiting to have right eye done . Good luck xxSheila ππβ
Happy Easter break Katie and I hope there's someone who'll help you put the drops in ΓΓ P
happy Easter! Iβm sitting here 21 days post cataract op. I got 28 days of drops. One lot for 7 days (antibiotics I think) other lot for 28 days. Just about learnt to put the drops in! Lots ran down my face and I dad to ask for another bottle. I think you can buy an βautodropperβ at the chemist which helps. I had cataracts on both eyes and was virtually blind. Hubby is partially sighted after stroke. We were truly the blind leading the blind. I had to scream for treatment, literally writing to the hospital as such a backlog after pandemic. Itβs healing slower than I thought maybe as Iβm diabetic, but I can see!!
The drops have to be administered for 4 weeks after op. Reducing every week .ie. 4 x day for 1st week 3 x day for 2nd week
2 x day for 3rd week
1 x day for 4th week.
It's a bit of a pain but has to be done. . Cannot wash hair for at least 2weeks and cannot wear eye makeup for 4 weeks .
I used to wear sunglasses when going out.
Worth it all in the end as now have 20/20 vision in left eye . Waiting for appointment for right eye now. Painless operation didnt feel a thing
Good luck and Happy Easter xxSheila ππβ
Thanks Sheila , the hospital nurse suggest I might have to contact social services about this as I cannot put drops in myself , but might be able to get help for one week . Plus some advice on here about a dropper dispenser. So now can contact my GP to discuss after Easter.
My daughter administered mine at first but did it myself after. Kept missing sometimes so ended up having more drops prescribed by my GP. He put it on repeat prescription so Keep getting the drops every month. Could open a shop lol. At least I have plenty ready for next op. Lol hope you get sorted best of luck ..xxSheila ππ±β
I had shower+washed hair with shield on,carefully.i wore sunglasses as I'd been all bar blind in that eye+ took me a few days to adjust to the light x
There is a small blue gadget rather like the old fashioned eye bath but with an opening for the dropper. It fits over the eye and the drops have nowhere else to go. Available at Boots I think.
Happy Easter Katie. You can buy a eye drop dispenser on Amazon or RNIB, hope all goes well with the cataract op x
Happy Easter to you Katieoxo60. Hope your keeping as well as possible and enjoy the sunshine over the weekend. Sorry I can't help about the cataract procedure. But hope it all goes well. Brian
Not seen u for bit Brian.ru ok xx
Yes not too bad thanks. I do read the posts every day but usually people have already given advice. So I don't bother replying. Hope you keep as well as possible and enjoy Easter. Brian
Glad to hear yr ok.im bit hit+miss, up& down, but keep fighting on x
Yes I think we are all the same. My kidney function has dropped again so I am closer to needing Dialysis. Because of my age and other health problems my kidney specialist said its Dialysis or death. I lost my good friend down Canterbury a month ago with Lung cancer. He went downhill so quickly in the last week. Take care and enjoy the sunshine. Brian
Sorry to hear about your freinds death, sometimes it does happen quick, I feel that is better than suffering at least they are at peace now. Its a beautiful day here today so enjoy Brian. With reference your Kidney problem my freind has been on Dialysis for seven years and apart from the inconvenience of dialysis she leads a fairly active life. So look for the silver linings Brian and enjoy what you can each day laughter is the best medicine so they say. I have CKDstage three but don't need Dialysis, it was found when I had tests for something else. Stay as well as can be Best wishes
Yes I just keep going and enjoying life and holidays the best I can. I am in a C.K.D group and learning from them about whether to have Dialysis through the arm or the stomach overnight. I know which way I want to have it. Take care love
In respect of Dialysis Brian I think the overnight through the stomach sounds good but not everywhere does the overnight one. Like you I miss the freinds I have lost since the virus and my outside interests many of which were closed down. Hopefully you will find another person to chat to in the evening. Take care.
Yes I have been getting peoples opinions on which way to do Dialysis and I would struggle for room to do it overnight and some people have said about Stomach discomfort with the stomach tube way. So I think my mind is made up and plus the staff do everything and are there for any problems. Hope you find things to occupy your time. Or maybe do a 5 day coach holiday. I can recommend a very good company. 4 nights half board and entertainment every night and you would probably have your meals at a table with another person on there own. We are lucky I still drive so we get out and about and go to Elvis tribute nights and weekends
It's hard losing people we care about π.gd that specialists honest.marvellous what machines do for us x
Yes we had only known each other 3 years from this group actually and we met up a few times for holidays and we really got on so well. I miss our evening chats for certain. Hope your keeping as well as possible. Brian
U will miss him Brian π.I hope u can perhaps attend local group meetings, for company xx
I had cataract surgery last year and I had to put drops in for 2 weeks, which was bad enough, but my husband had glaucoma surgery last week and he has 7 different types of drops, one to be used every two hours, to be used for up to 8 weeks. On reflection it makes cataract drops easy!
Happy Easter π£ everyone π. God bless.
You are welcome. Dont like swimming and outdoor definitely not for me. ππ±Hate getting my face and hair wet . Lol .enjoy your day . xxSheila πβ
Happy EasterSome drops for 2 wks,1 for 4wks
Happy Easter! All the best for your operation.
Because I wear contact lenses I often put eye drops in my eyes. The knack is to put your head back with the eye taking the drops uppermost, open the lids as wide as you can, then squeeze the required drops into the corner nearer the nose. Blink several times to spread the drops over the eye as you drop your head back down.
Try not to touch the dropper against the eye as you put the drops in, but if you do you can wipe the dropper with an antiseptic wipe to clean it.
Hope this helps.
Brrr! You must be hardy. xxx
Happy Easter to you too. All the cataract advice sounds very upbeat, though the eyedrops sound a bit daunting. xxxππππ₯π€π£
Happy Easter to you Katie ! I hope you enjoy however youβre spending it . Iβm doing nothing special , most of my immediate family have gone away for the weekend so itβs pretty much me , Geoff and the dogs doing the same as usual -all but me sleeping pretty much day and night π On the plus side I bought a twelve pack of Easter cup cakes and as everyoneβs asleep , Geoff canβt get to the cupboard to check and the dogs canβt count β¦β¦π§π§π§ππ xx
I'm sure it won't be too bad. Fingers crossed for you.π€π€π€
