Despite feeling continually tired, my father often has a problem sleeping at night. Does anyone have any tips to help please.

I have the same problem when I am on steriods. I usually only sleep for 3 to 4 hours.I do breathing exercises to help or something else like going through the alphabet and naming a town or city beginning with each letter.

Bed sock also make me sleep better.

I have the TV on something of interest. It often helps me to doze off and stops me dwelling on myself. Others have the radio on.

I listen to meditation on you tube or there are some apps or I read until I fall asleep. Failing that a bottle of wine 🍷 😂

I find that putting radio4/world service on at a low enough volume that you really have to concentrate to hear it (so your mind doesn’t wander) works after a while because much of it, especially in the wee, small hours, is seriously boring! Bit of a problem with a partner though so I can only do this when he gets up early….never ever encouraged by some energetic tossing and turning of course😉

I take steroids as early possible, can help to achieve better sleep, Sometimes I have a milky drink.

Sometimes I lie awake and think “well I don’t have to go to work tomorrow “

A boring book can help.

My son at 10 used to watch Prime Ministers Question Time to get to sleep.

Different methods suit different people

I always get up when I wake I have a drink read or look at something mindless on my iPad then go back to bed better than lying there awake thinking I’ll be tired tomorrow I find I need to be sleepy before going to bed worth a try x

Try Apple AirPods and listen to soothing meditative apps or music from You Tube. ?

I just listen/ place one air pod in one ear so I can lie on my side and drift off . ..
