Does Anyone use a powerchair outside, need advice

Hi all, hoping ssomebody Could help with my dilemma- I use a small mobility scooter on the motability scheme which is great for getting around my local area, but it is too long to get on a bus which I used to be able to do with my last mobility scooter. I intend to get a compact powerchair to enable me to get out further than my local area again, for hospital appointments, my breatheasy group etc without having to rely on others. The one I am thinking of states that is suitable for outdoor use and uneven paths etc and has suspension.

I would really like to know if anyone here uses one outdoors themselves and what your experiences are with them? It would really help me decide - I intend to use it mainly for bus journeys.

I have 2 mobility scooters. 1 large pavement scooter and 1 smaller one I can use on buses. Never used a power chair. However if this was something I was considering I would go to a large company like Careco.co.uk These days they have branches all round the country where you can try a variety of aids. They definitely have power chairs and you can discuss your requirements with a person. Am not necessarily saying purchase from them (am not advertising the company) but over the years I have found sales people very helpful.

I can't help with your enquiry personally but was going to suggest what Bevvy has already said. A good supplier should be able to give you a trial ride and answer all your questions (go with a list) to enable you to make a decision.
