I cant say I have ever looked into over the counter remedies. I am happy using the prescibed medication and advice from consultant. I know that some over the counter medication can trigger asthma attacks.

Speaking to your local pharmacist or GP might be helpful.

I swear by olbus oil in a cup of hot water by bed and sum drops on a tissue above my head.. I have treatment resistant emphysema stage 3..nebuliser, inhalers, all make my breathing worse, which showed on breathing test.. Olbus oil is the one thing that really gets in my lungs and does something not even a nebuliser can do for me.. Just don't put to many drops in Water or tissue. I'd say 4/5 drops on each or your eyes will sting.. Good luck

I use eucalyptus oil in an atomiser which really eases my breathing.. Very similar to olbus whcich Cut3ypie mentioned or put a couple of drops on a tissue. Eucalyptus is also very good for getting rid of housedust mite . I put a few drops in a container with water and spray bedsheets, carpets etc.x

Hi NGLA , in the old days DO DO tablets could be bought in the chemist but don't know if still available. My friend used to say rum & black worked hope its the blackcurrant possibly the vitamin C . I find herbal fruit teas help, sucking boiled sweets or mints its worth testing different things to see what works for you.

I take Turmeric twice a day for it's anti-inflammatory properties. Make sure it contains pepper witch increases it's affect.
