... So I have bronchiectasis & was keen to get protection from Covid via Pfizer vaccine.
Feb 2021, 1st vaccine. 2-3days after really erratic heartbeat, jaw ache & breathlessness. Headaches, very sore tongue. Continued for weeks Ended up with ECG, heart monitor, stress test. Eventually diagnosed with inducible ischaemia, stable angina.
I went on statins in June & had 2nd & 3rd vvaccination(Oct). Felt worse than ever after 3rd vac. Scary. Really bad chest, heart, pseudomonas etc. Overall, a bad year. Much improved as 2022 progressed. Heart fine now! Had Covid in April, like a mild flu.
Very anxious about bivalent vaccine offered to me. Inclined to refuse it. Any input appreciated.

I have lifelong bronch and AF and dilated cardiomyopathy. I have had 5 covid vaccines including the latest with 2 strains. 1st vaccine felt fluey. 2nd and third, nothing. Spring booster, temp and tired for 4 days. Autumn booster very rough for 2 days and sore arm. No effect at all on my heart. But then we are all different.
a transplant recipient I have a reduced immune system, two days ago I had the latest Pfizer vaccine (booster). For me that was my 6th covid jab and at the same time also had this years flu jab, apart from a slight ache for about 12 hours, I have had no side affects.
I can understand from your post why you are wary. Personally I would discuss with a medic (eg gp or pharmacist) who knows me and is aware of issues following previously jabs. There may well be other options we, the general public are unaware of??
hi lfc,I have bronchiectasis asthma and copd, had 5th jab moderna bivalent vaccine and apart from a really heavy arm nothing else ,but the arms still stiff and painful 5,weeks on.no bad effects on pfizer or astra zeneca
Had my 5th one yesterday afternoon. Before going through we were shown a short video explaining about the two strain virus and what side effects might be expected. There was a doctor on hand if you had any questions but to be honest a few of the side effects are things I live with daily so how would I know? A stiff arm today but nothing else.
I’ve just had my 4th vax, (Pfizer), and now with hindsight wished I hadn’t. I had Covid (the latest version of Omicron), just 5 weeks before this vax. We are informed not to have the vax if you’ve had Covid within the previous month. I thought I would be okay to have it.
I’d also recently had a sinus operation (August), and the removal of nasal polyps so my immune system was lower than normal when I contracted Covid. 11 days after my op sense of smell returned after 2+ years, then 13 days later I caught Covid and immediately lost my smell again. My sense of smell returned again after Covid but only lasted 9 days and I’ve still not got it back.
Then I had the vax 40 days after the operation. Now I’ve developed more sinus issues, a dry nervous cough and post nasal drip. All of the previous were cured by my sinus operation and have now returned.
Since I had caught the latest Covid Omicron I believe I’ve been overdosed and with my immune system down after the op I think I’d have been much better off skipping this 4th vax altogether.
The lady administering the jab asked me if I’d had Covid within the last 28 days and I said ‘No’ because it had been 40 days since. I’d read that you should not receive the vax within a month of having Covid so I thought I was okay to have it. With hindsight, I wish I’d waited longer or not had it at all.
Glad to hear that you are progressing well after reading about your ups and downs. Wishing you the very best of health for the future.
Hi like you I’ve had the most dreadful year & worked out that it conicided with vaccinations. I ve had 5 but after having Covid in August 21 went downhill badly. Had further vaccination in Oct & spent the next 3 months in bed mostly. Just feeling a bit better but not ventured out then further vaccination in Jan. same scenario. Just feeling a bit better by April & after 5th vaccination in May went back downhill again. I’ve made my mind up I’m not having mine but as I had a Rheumy appointment coming up I thought I would discuss it with my consultant who after looking at videos of me which my hubby took she agrees that I shouldn’t have it. I feel happier with her agreement. It’s a tough decision to make though x
I had my fourth jab about 3 weeks ago. It was Moderno bivalent - my arm wasn't too bad, but the following night I had terrible breathing problems and my eyes remained glazed for about 8 days. I ended up taking a course of steroids, but managed to evade anti-biotics. My husband is also in two minds about this fourth jab, has the previous 3 seem to have affected his pulse rate, which keeps dropping into the 30s - very low. Again - not much interest from GPs - they are a strange bunch I've decided.
I wasnt too bad with the first 3 vaccines but the last one (my fourth) spikevax, my arm was terrible it had a big red ring and lasted ages, I couldnt lift it and felt quite ill. I have just had what I think was covid, although my lft was negative. I have been very undecided about having this next one and am thinking of leaving it for a while. I have bronchiectasis and rheumatoid arthritis so my immune system is low like yours. If it wasnt for the fact my daughter has an apartment in Tenerife and i join her sometimes I wouldnt be having this next one. I can understand your reluctancy and would speak with your rheumy doc x
suggest you speak with clinical lead at vaccination centre, I was advised to do this when my daughter had extrem reaction to Astra Zeneca 1st jab, way back when! And to be fair, clinical lead listened to concern and was far more help than GP…….good luck, hope you get the guidance you are looking for
i had covid jab + flu jab on same day as knew id be having other immunisations.i had 1 in ea arm.no reactions, except usual sore arm.keeping them mobile helps.i was v pleased not to feel ill having them both.id mention yr concerns to dr there, prior to having it
I am 68, my husband 71. We both had pfizer bivalent booster (4th) with no symptoms whatsoever. No tiredness, no pain, nothing at all. I have bronchiectasis, copd, asthma, emphysema. My husband has no lung issues. Good luck with your decision.
