Himself hasnt been doing to great just of late ..

He was diagnosed with doggy alzheimers only just last week .. it started about 6 weeks ago he started doing lots of random things that was not him ...

vet check last week gave us the news i think that we already feared ..

We will do our upmost to help him in every way we can possible hes still very much our best friend and feeling a little broken at the news ..

He will enjoy his life and walks as thats where hes most happy running in the woods and rivers all be it he goes in a different direction from everyone else now as he loses track ...so just keeping you all in the loop as i know theres lots of you have grown very fond of our heartbreaker πŸ’›πŸ§‘

poor Stan,at least you have got time to adjust his routinesto help him cope with his Alzheimer’s.

I’m in the same sort of position with my 15 year old cat.he is on kidney diet as his kidneys aren’t too good, drinking loads of water etc.

So we’re being kind to him, even when he’s up to his tricks, as I don’t want the last thing I say to him to be nasty.

Enjoy him while you can xxx

Awww im really sorry to hear that about your cat 🐈..life is absolutely rotten sometimes..

Im sure he will be here for a while longer ... the daft bugger fell of the bed last night he was dreaming and kicking so hard down he went ... this was at 4am i ran and flicked the light on scooped him up checked him over and popped him back to bed and stayed awake until gone 6 am just watching him sleep ... wishing you well 🌷

My boy (cat) also recently fell off the bed. Must be something in the water!! He had taken to sleeping on edge of bed and I had warned him several times he would fall off, when one night he did!! πŸ™€πŸ˜Ώ

Best, best wishes to lovely Stan and big meaty bones for him 😘

Oh dear, I am heartbroken for you both. I did wonder why no recent photos of Stan had been posted and now I know why. You will be devastated, I know BB having received this news. You took Stan in in a, frightened sad state and against all odds, through your care and understanding encouraged him to regain his trust in humans once again. The photos you have regularly posted saw major changes in him. Gradually, step by step his confidence began to grow. The photos of him showed the absolute pleasure in life as he began to enjoy life with you. These life changes was because of you and the love and care you showered on him. How wonderful is that?

My last dog also suffered with dementia. H slept in the day and wailed all night long and being practically blind would bump into things. Like you I couldn't relax and worried constantly about him. He was 15 years old and had also had a bad start in life but now his quality of life was nigh on zero. It is the hardest thing in the world to accept when its the right time to let go. This was the time I knew but I was broken hearted as I loved him so much.

Thankfully, it appears that Stan still enjoys his daily activities with you so that time has not come as yet. I feel very tearful writing in response to your post BB as it brings back painful memories. However, like others on here we have all gone on that journey with you from the time when you acquired Stanley. Yes, he also had a bad start in life but thankfully became part of your family so what a lucky dog he was to be able to enjoy the rest of his life with you. Of course this is devastating news but fortunately there are people like you who will always offer a home to a dog like Stan, who will always love and support their pets right to the very end. Just as I know you will be there for Stanley. I want to say much more but for now I want you to know my thoughts are genuinly with you BB.

Sending you my love to you both. Your friend, RR xxxxx

oh Poor Stan ,my poor Binks Cat had that for a Year or so love her . She would have a bite of food , quick clean down & then howl to be fed . Had to take her back to the Bowl , took about an hour. She was 18 & she was Sunning herself in the Garden a couple of months ago when she went & strangely all 4 of my children had popped in that day & she had a cuddle with all of them . We live near a river and she would clear a rats nest in a fortnight, Pigeons freaked her out though..

aww! What a shame. Poor little dog. It’s sad when our animals start to deteriorate. I had three at one time and one looked a bit like your dog. Unfortunately he got cancer in the jaw. We had him operated on but a week or two after he was crying eating his food. I took him back to the vet and they operated again and found it had spread to the bones so nothing they could do. It was heartbreaking. Fortunately none of my dogs had Alzheimer’s . One of them however was always a nut case and always caused trouble. He was loved anyway.
