finally today I surpassed my 1000 steps a day , I must admit today in this heat was not the day I thought I would achieve this but I did,( I have to admit I was VERY thirsty and even though these 3 destinations were within 1 mile of each other managed it and got home ( slightly worse for wear) safely.
Pushing oneself is not easy but with the help of old friends ( and the odd appreciated insult from them)Ive had a good afternoon/early evening , may this good fortune continue .I hope if not today then soon, you all have one of those good days.
As always breath easy
Dave.

Well done Dave!!! Having my Apple Watch actually monitors every step I do so it’s not necessarily a case of trusting my phone and taking it everywhere! So my target is 5k but I don’t always do that but on holiday I did 11,000 unheard of for me!!! I know when I struggle to breathe I want to sit down but the more we do the more we can do!! I applaud you !!!
Thanks Kate, frame of mind does go a long way and 11,000 steps ( WELL bloody done you ) are you sure it wasnt you doing the 5k at the commonwealth games I saw last week 😃, walking is my weakness I must confess but until we try ws will never succeed. Have a lovely weekend Kate
It’s hard and no one gets it I work from home sitting and during lockdown my health suffered because I wasn’t going out - my favourite walk is round the shops so I do that but I’m not good at keeping to 5k steps and apparently the average guide is we should do £10k steps a day (dear god) ! I have a friend who lives about 50 miles from me we meet up (by car) lol but she also struggles with step count since lockdown but if we don’t keep doing it what will happen!
Ah the heat in Hampshire is awful another reason for just sitting 😂
10k is like a fairy tale , 10k really lol, with 10k you could walk to your friends house , thank God for cars he Kate, they stop so much isolation and encourage plans , lots of people see plans as a chore but I look forward to planning an outing it keeps the mind sharp ( even if sometimes I become the dullest tool in the tool box) it gives us something to look forward to and hope (that the day planned will go well ) and hope can never be underestimated as it keeps us striving , even hoping for a nice cold beer on a hot summers day, Have a lovely weekend and hope your settling in and enjoying your new surroundings,
I used to walk from my front door to my backdoor when I lived in my bungalow , I did it that much that my grandchildren who came to stay ( when they were little) would walk it with me , lol they made it like a military parade .
Try to leave my chocolate, at whichever end I am not. My bedroom and kitchen at one end and sitting room at the other. So use food as the incentive to walk!!!
Mmm chocolate -have t eaten any these last 2 weeks in a vain hope it will lower blood sugars prior to my appointment with the dreaded diabetic nurse!!!!!
Well done! I’m glad the ice 🧊 cold lager 🍺 shandy helped! I keep meaning to sign up to do a walk for Parkinson’s (my mum has it) and I can choose 2 miles or 6 miles. I’m not really a massive walker….I think I’ll go for the 2 miles but I feel like I should try the 6 because it will be a huge achievement for me…I wish there was something in between! In reality I think I’ll stick with the 2!
I commend you in this heat. I'm up and down with my steps have only done 840 steps today, haven't gone over 1000 in a while, although last year got to 12,500. The least you do the less you want to do. My chest consultant said I have to push myself if I want my lungs to not get worseI am just finding it too hard atm especially with the heat.
Congratulation on achieving your goal. I am going to start walking as I love going out walking. It's a good way to exercise. I have been very lazy of late and just jumping in the car and off I go. I used to go to the gym 3 times a week and my job used to keep me very fit as I used to walk about a specific area. Anyway congratulations and well done you.
