Cruise companies have changed their policies on oxygen since covid. I have done many cruises on which there were people using concentrators but don't know if that is still allowed. I think that the best thing to do is to contact the cruise line you are interested in and ask them about it.

Do make sure you speak to both the cruise line AND travel insurance company about it. Having the right insurance cover is vital!

People are not allowed to board now without proof of proper insurance.

aliexpress.com/item/4001138...

do not be fooled by lower prices , this is the minimum in terms of reliability , otherwise a proper one will cost you well over a thousand pounds , but for a casual use those two I think are OK

First of all, before using an oxygen concentrators, you need to have confirmation that it is required. Usually you would attend a pulmonary clinic to be assessed. You haven't mentioned that

Rather than pay over £500 to buy an unknown make, I would suggest hiring one (eg, from someone like Pure O2) that is a well known make, assuming confirmation that oxygen is required and at what level. For some people, who are co2 retainers, use of oxygen can be dangerous.

Oxygen is only supplied on prescription, you can't just buy it. You have to be accessed at the respiratory clinic to see if you require it.

I am sorry to hear about your personal experience.

Myself I have ambulatory oxygen. Following a 6 minute walk test at a pulmonary clinic it was decided that I would benefit from ambulatory oxygen. I have also had several reviews at the clinic.

You can only get it by prescription after testing. You would also need a fit to travel form from the prescriber

You are not allowed to take prescription NHS oxygen concentrators out of the country, you have to get it privately.

I have just started on ambulatory oxygen following a 6 minute walk test with pulmonary clinic as they feel will benefit . What understand so far is cannot take NHS prescription oxygen out of country ..but can get anywhere here. Cost privately for holidays looks pricey very pricey ...maybe some one knows better?

Yes Falcon22, You cannot take the NHS oxygen out of the country so it's best to buy a portable oxygen concentrator that you can use on airlines when going abroad.

Before I bought my own concentrator I went on cruises to the Med sailing from Southampton. I paid for oxygen cylinders which were bought onto the ship for me.

Since buying my own concentrator I have traveled to Jamaica but the insurance was very pricy and you have to have a fit to fly test done to see how much oxygen you will need whilst in the airplane. The travel agent was very good and they told the airline who arranged for me to have their own oxygen cylinders to use free of charge.

For cruising you will need to fill in a medical for and say what oxygen you will be using. I went with an American cruising company in June and had no problem but i'm told a well known British company is not taking on guests who uses oxygen. I also only had the travel insurance for the one trip which made it very cheap.

Hope this helps.

God bless x
