Cracked rib or what?

I think l may have pulled a muscle or cracked a rib, from all the coughing, due to having Bronchiectasis. I have been in pain since the weekend and going to see the doctor today. Has anyone had the same and how did it heal?

Great you're seeing the doctor today, s/he will be able to rule out pleurisy via stethoscope. Fractured ribs take at least 6 weeks (I've a tip to ease the pain from movement if it is) or might be costochronditis, inflamed little muscles along ribs. Anyway good luck 👍. P

oh god i fear thats going to happen to me as im coughing 24/7 thats why I live on lemsips every day to subdue it .I particularly take them 1st thing in the morning & last thing at tnight so hopefully that wont happen

because its too expensive to keep buying it I found a website that I could buy 10 boxes to last me a few months on a monthly basisi

It’s happened to me 2 or 3 times now- usually from an awkward twisting movement. The pain becomes moremanageable after the first few days but do get it checked out and take care.😊🌷

Yes I sprained my intercostal muscle at a first aid training course 6 weeks ago, do one every three years and have never had a problem before! Coughing a lot and having so many lung problems this year will not have helped, it just is not healing. It gets so far and then goes again. I’m off to see a chiropractor to see if they can help. I have had issues in the past with coughing. Can take ages to recover.

Went to see the doctor yesterday and he thinks l may have a cracked rib, l have osteoporosis, so it has weakened my bones. Also have another chest infection. He has given me medication also strong pain killers and told to rest. I am like you can't seem to get a break from being ill.

I am hoping so. Have read it can take up to 6 weeks to heal a cracked rib.

It’s physio first, I have been advised. It has to heal first. Trouble is out ribs and muscles are so vulnerable from coughing. I hope you feel better soon it is a horrible pain and difficult when you have lung issues.

I’ve been dealing with similar situation with my ribs. I’ve been going to the chiropractor and they have done about four laser treatments on the area. I think it has helped as well as time itself.

Do you mind me asking, was it very expensive? I have weakened bones because of Osteoporosis, just wondered if they could do the same in my case.

It was 32 dollars US currency for each time. I still have some pain bc I still cough but there’s definitely been a change where I’m not constantly thinking about my ribs. Im sorry you are dealing with this. I started to think it was never going to get better but seeing change.

Its probably a pilled muscle easily done . I just sneezed and my back went into a muscle spasm

Did it heal? I am going on with the same situation. My doc prescribed orphenadrine, but I didn't take it due to side effects? Any suggestions?

The pain I am getting is sharp that gets worse with breathing. I am also having a fever due to it.
