I feel better by the sea too . I spent most of my younger days near the cost , now live right in the middle of England , nor even seen the sea for years .Have to make do with my sea scape pictures on my walls or you tube wave videos .

I was reared by the sea in Southern Ireland but find that air too damp I feel worse than I do here I think if anyone was thinking of relocating for health reasons they would need to be careful where they go stay healthy x

Youre absolutely right there. One of our beloved members lives in Southampton and apparently the air quality there is very poor

I moved to Cheltenham for cleaner air after 20 years in Wimbledon. It was a risk as Cheltenham is in a valley. However, within a couple of years I felt so very much better. Soon I'm moving east to Ely so 🤞🤞🤞

It is surprising how different areas make such a difference. East anglia seems to suit me but apparently it’s the driest area in uk good luck with your move Ely is lovely moving for me is not an option I’m fine in the summer and lucky to be able to travel back and forth to western Algarve in the winter stay healthy x

I always feel so much better by the sea, I love to watch the seagulls flying above the waves and watching my grandchildren playing on the beach. Don't get to go very often now, but I also love going to the countryside Have a good night and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx oo

My dad had a high pressure job in nursing and occasionally suffered from mild depression . At those times he would say “ get your coats on we’re going for a run out “ It didn’t matter what time of day or year it was and me and mum couldn’t get in the car quick enough . We’d drive the 30 miles to the coast , spend a couple of hours enjoying the sea air (Irish Sea ) and head home with dad saying he felt like a new man . It worked every time 😃

Hello Mary. My mum lives maybe near ish your area where the North Sea and the English Channel meet. It's very harsh in winter but she lives it there. I found the wind very strong indeed there. 😮 So nice to hear from you. xx 🌺🌿🌷🌿🌻🌿

Some years ago I was fortunate to spend a holiday in N Devon in an apartment overlooking the sea. When in that apartment I could sit for hours watching the tide go out or come in, so very relaxing. Equally relaxing was an afternoon spent on the riverside of a nearby estuary watching the boating activities.Perhaps we love the sea because we are an island nation.

I don't live near a sea but live only 3 miles from one of the Great Lakes... Lake Michigan. I love to walk near the lake and take in all the lovely sites. Blue Herons along the shore... seagulls... a beautiful lighthouse and soon it will start another season... the car ferry. The ferry crosses Lake Michigan from Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Ludington, Michigan. I walk near a Marina and so beautiful to see the sailboats!! This is my haven... calming and serene. I just keep walking taking in these beautiful sites and sounds and before I know it I have done a great walk. Being near a body of water is good for the soul! Another reason I enjoy my walks near the lake.... my allergies aren't as bad!!

When young we spent nearly every year at a caravan site in Crantock, Newquay, my Mum loved it there and when we got older my sister hired a villa so Mum could watch the sea from the lounge and garden. She said that she always felt so well when near the sea and must admit I feel the same. It no only helps your respiratory system but mental health as well. Lets hope we can all get a trip to the seaside this year x

Not certain if there’s a connection but I believe there is - our house is on a fairly busy road but backs onto open countryside with masses of trees There are only five houses on the row , we all use the back doors and we all spend a great deal of time out in the back gardens When we moved in 20 plus years ago our neighbours were in there eighties , he was born in the house and was able to tell us about all the previous occupant on the row . One man sadly died of cancer in his late 60’s but everyone else over the past 100 years had lived well into there 80’s , some 90’s and one lady who was 99 when we moved in died aged 103 . (My neighbour died aged 90 and his wife 97 ) I’m sure the air and the trees have something to do with it and I wonder if my Geoff aged 74 and battling COPD. for 17 years would have done so well in a different location 🤔

Not sure about woods I only seem to really notice a difference by the sea and have to be careful now not to go up mountains as the thin air is a killer really have to plan stuff beforehand keep healthy x

I agree , I think people ( even people in the best of health ) actually feel more of a difference whilst breathing sea air , not so much whilst amongst trees but the trees do seem to improve air quality . Keep on planning , stay well and enjoy life where you can 😊 x
