Carbocisteine & Contact Lenses

Good evening! Is there anyone on here that takes Carbocisteine and wears contact lenses. Since being on these meds I have had real issues with wearing my contacts. My eyes get very sore and my lenses fold over as my eyes are so dry. I make sure I keep my fluid levels topped up. I was wondering if it is a 'thing' or coincidence? Thank you! 😊

HiI've never taken carbocistein, but I used to be on Anoro inhaler which used to effect my eyes. Maybe it's not the carbocistein. What inhalers do you have if any?

Seraflo, Ventolin & Tiotropium. Been on them for a while & not had any issues. I appreciate the reply, thank-you.

No idea if carbocistein would affect weary contact lenses but just to make you aware that although you have been on inhalers for a long time you can suddenly become adverse to one of them. I took montelukast for years successfully then started to have dreadful nightmares. It took me a long time to realise the connection and stopped taking it.

I don't wear contact lenses but I wonder if it's worth contacting your optician for advice.

I was going to ask my pharmacist but it makes sense to speak to my opticians too, thank you!

I take it and wear contact lenses and have no issues. I would definitely speak to your optometrist.

I've always had dry eyes, and my meds don't help. Some years ago, my optician (who prescribes my glasses and gas permeable contact lenses) told me about Hyabak solution eye drops which really help. I have also used comfort drops in the past - lots of different ones available. All can be bought online or through your local chemist.
