The neurologist has requested i have an EMG. I am rather concerned as to how this feels. Have any of you friends ever had one. It’s to test the nerve and muscle responses.

Would appreciate any info. Thank you friends.

Sorry that I can't help Collie but I hope that the test isn't too unpleasant and leads to some answers to your problems.

I think I have had this. Don’t remember it as any sort of a big deal. Nothing to worry about.

Thank you, i have a fairly good pain threshold but not too keen on needles. I think it’s fear of the unknown.😧

I don't think needles are involved but don't quote me.

I have had one three separate times and I didn’t find it to bad. If it is just nerve conduction it is pretty easy, the deep muscle was a little unpleasant, but you may only be having the nerve conduction tests as that is more common. Is there a specific issue they are testing for as that would probably tell if you ate having both tests or just the nerve conduction.

I’m not sure why they are testing. I’ve had tingling and numb hands and feet for 10 days and difficulty walking as my legs are weak. They have ruled out stroke.(thankfully). It could be after i had a flu type cold recently and that could have left a virus attacking the nerves. I just want it to be over with.

I would suspect if they are testing for numbness and tingling would be more nerve conduction that muscle stimulation. There is a slight tingling but easily tolerated. As I mentioned the muscle stimulation (I believe that is what is was called but was a few years ago) is a little more uncomfortable but still tolerable.

Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your message. I’m hoping its just nerve conduction, but whatever they do i will have to tolerate, i need to get this sorted. I must say it’s no worse so that’s encouraging.

Good luck, I hope all goes well and you get some answers. It always seems worse not knowing so hopefully you get some answers.

Have you had your EMG yet, or do you have a date for the test? If you have had it, how did it go, and did you get the results?

Hello, thank you for your message. I haven’t had the EMG, my symptoms started to go away, i got the feeling back in my hands and my legs got stronger so i don’t need walking stick so often. I spoke to my neuro consultant and he was happy to leave the tests for now. I still have tingling in feet and hands but i’m able to use them fortunately. I’m just hoping that awful neuropathy doesn’t return. We are thinking it was the flu virus i had ( not covid), that attacked the nerves which can sometimes happen. I hope you have a safe happy new year.🙂

Glad to hear things have improved for you and hopefully the remaining symptoms will gradually clear up as well. I hope you have a safe and healthy new year as well.

Hi. I have had two they were both ok. Slight feeling of pins and needles nothing worse. All the best.
