You may have read recently about the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) expansion in London this month which aims to cut air pollution in the city. Rob from our policy team explains abit more about this here:

One of my asthmatic daughters lives just inside the new zone .Neighbours of hers have moved outside the zone now.

Bring it on. I know some of the northern fringes beyond the new limits and they need new restrictions as much as the inner areas.

I live about 5 miles outside the zone but in a built up area at the top of a hill which means that to be able to get vital exercise we drive to Dulwich Park which is completely inside the zone. It is hard for me to even motivate myself to walk as it is not enjoyable any more but Dulwich Park is the best possible place to go as it is flat, one lap is one mile, it is very beautiful and most importantly there is plenty of space to still walk on pathways and avoid people. I have no other way of getting there other than driving and there is no decent alternative any where near. We bought a diesel car (as the last car we would need) under guidance from government that it was better for the environment and now can’t afford to change vehicles. It is ironic that the reasons for the zone is to protect people like us but it has now taken away my only reason for leaving the house (I am still to scared to go in shops, visit my kids or allow them into my house). I am worried that I will fall into even lower mental state in the coming months. At least I don’t have to worry about visiting mum and dad now whose house was in Dulwich but now can’t even visit them in the cemetery.
