Incredible! Do you know which ones can be eaten and which canβt? Great photo thank you Bb8. Xxxxππππ
Thank you for sharing, wonder how big it will grow? xx
Is that the one called Chicken of the Woods? Not that Iβd be nibbling it to see if it tastes like chicken!
I have a great book with pictures, essential , and full description with technique for collecting spores, standing the fungus on white paper under a glass and leaving overnight and this helps to identify them . Used to go on organised fungi trips to local green park areas with very knowledgeable man called " Fungalpunk o Dave "! Then cooked any I was happy about , Now just pick shaggy inkcaps to eat when i see them but have to be shaggy type. A friend cooked common inkcaps and ate those with her usual glass red wine. Big mistake ,this is something that was cure for alcohol dependency and when mixed with alcohol. But worse the toxin gets stored in liver and is re cycled whenever more drink is taken! This could be chicken of t he woods but their is one which is more orange in colour that is not edible. Have you heard of the eyelash fungi? I hadn't but was shown one little round fungus with eyelashes all round the edge. Fascinating
I used to love making puffball soup. Great to catch them when they are young, before the seeds start to form.
Puff balls are amazing . Never thought of making soup. They were supposed to taste like steak so I tried frying thick slices in butter with parsley, and they do My boss presented me with a giant one that was perfect but the next one was just with a yellow tinge and was past it. Many years ago liverpool university did a 6 week course on sat mornings that dealt with all aspect's of the l Delamere forest history and ecology with fungi one saturday. Its an ancient Royal Forest so there was a lot of interest from geology and formation of the Cheshire meres to nature with birds , insects and mosses.
That's a great photo thank you for sharing have a good day and take care π Bernadette and Jack π xxxxxx
Good morning to you BB8 & a fine photograph to start our Monday's off. The fungi almost looks like coral in the sea(apart from the fact its attached to a tree, in a wood π²π³π π€ !! ).Top marksβ. πΏπ₯x

Great photo. Always amazes me to see them growing on the bark of trees Not sure if theyβre poisonous or notThere are some humongous ones growing on the grass verge across the way from my sons house. X
Good lord that is huge, dont think I have seen one like that before x
What lovely fungi. Those are growing on a fallen tree, so they can't be harming it.
