Hi Mrsbutt, have you been prescribed oxygen by your respiratory specialist/nurse?

If you have I have bought my own Inogen One G3 for if or when I go abroad on holiday, be aware though you require one and half times the battery life to be allowed to fly, in other words if your flight time is 5 hours your battery life should be 7.5 hours, but also take into account any waiting time in the airport and transfer time to your resort/hotel.

My Inogen One G3 has a battery life life of roughly 8.5 hours on the 2 setting, which is my ambulatory oxygen setting, I do increase this as directed to by my oxygen nurse between 2 and 5 depending on the distance I’m walking and the higher your setting the shorter your battery life, for this reason I make sure the battery I’m using is fully charged and also have a fully charged spare battery, just to be on the safe side.

Be aware though, if you use oxygen at home you are probably using stationary oxygen concentrator or bottle, these both work on a continuous flow system, in other words the oxygen flows until you turn it off, whereas most Portable Oxygen Concentrator’s work on a Pulse Dose setting which will provide oxygen as long as it detects a pulse as you are breathing, for this reason you are better making sure with your respiratory nurse you able to trigger the oxygen flow with a pulse dose Portable Oxygen Concentrator, there are Continuous Oxygen Concentrator’s are available, but they a lot more bulky and heavy with a much shorter battery life.

I hope I have been some help.

Ian.

Ian thank you so very much, really appreciate your reply. Its for my husband who was diagnosed with sarcoidosis nearly 14 years ago. He's been using stationary as well as bottle since October last year. Will definitely speak to his nurse Thank you once again
