You MUST talk to your GP, Nurse or consultant at hospital. It could be anything OR nothing and at least your anxiety will be helped.

You know you got to di it, so, do it now.

Insist with GP that you be referred for one or at the very least Pulmonary rehab.Rehab can advise further investigation and that will get you started into the system.

Emphysema will not to my knowledge affect bladder and bowels but some medications prescribed for it come with the possible side effect of constipation. This will be aggravated by lack of exercise and poor appetite too. I think that circulation will only be affected if there are heart problems too. A pressure sore is most likely to be the result of lack of movement. You would be best to contact your doctor if you are having problems as your queries suggest.

You don't need a face to face consult to discuss your concerns. A visit from a nurse may be arranged with regard to the sore depending on what you discuss with your doctor.

Sorry I should have said I being seen by district nurses once a week to assess the sore and they gave me plasters to change every few days

I'm glad they are visiting you Lina. Hope it heals up ok. If you are having problems with constipation have you tried senna or lactulose? Both are available over the counter. This is something the district nurse could advise about too if you mention it to her next time she calls.

Best wishes Carole

I used to buy senna which worked for a while. Tried Lactulose but it's an acquired taste that I failed to aquire 😁. A few years ago my GP prescribed Fybogel which isn't unpleasant and worked for a while and I now take GP prescribed Laxido as and when needed. It's a trial and error thing I think sometimes as with many other meds. I also eat a lot of salad and veg but not much fruit and I don't eat breakfast when maybe bran based cereals would help. I have eaten prunes though and these might help you. I do remind myself to drink lots of water as sometimes my fluid intake isn't great.I hope you find a solution to your problem. As with many disabilities there is usually a knock on effect to other problems. Let me know how you get on.

The palliative care doc prescribed me Doccusate tablets. Then the chemist couldn’t,get hold of them,so was prescribed liquid.

Managed to find them in B N M they’re cheaper than at the chemist.

Idont know if you have someone who can pick them up for you.perhaps ask district nurses.

.

I also have All Bran with my cereal everyday

Etc.

It’s just one more thing to keep on top of everything else.

Take care of yourself xx

Hi Lina......speak to your nurse and ask to be referred to your local continence service. These nurses will talk through your concerns, your daily diet, drinks that you take daily , plus talk through your health and medications and advise from there.. Any further medication for constipation, bulking your bowel movements or any continence leakage medication or continence garments etc will be prescribed by them.It may feel embarrassing at first, but having someone to talk through your full history & daily living will make you feel more at ease.
