Hello ken4sully and welcome, ask your GP or respritory team for some carbocistene to help rove the mucus. Please continue to post and let us know how you get on, we are a lovely friendly bunch on here. Have a good day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack πŸ• xxxxxx

Hi. And welcome . Do you see a respiratory nurse if not speak to your GP or consultant to arrange things they will keep you up to date on your inhalers. Do you have a rescue pack just in case you think you are starting with chest infection. It contains antibiotics and predesiline always remember to replace when you have used. Good luck

Hi ken4sully,

Carbocisteine will help thin any mucus, enabling it to be expelled more easily. I have stage 4 Emphysema, I do not have a cough or excess mucus unless I have a chest infection. I suggest an appointment with your GP as you may have a chest infection yourself. Any change in your symptoms needs checking out.

Hi and welcome. It's probably best to let your GP know about this new problem. Like 2greys, I have stage 4 emphysema but very rarely have a problem with mucous unless I have a chest infection.

Welcome Ken,

Emphysema comes under the banner COPD, there is more information on this here:

blf.org.uk/support-for-you/...

You can also telephone the BLF helpline for any information packs, I am sure they will be happy to send you some out, or you can read more from the link above.

Regarding the mucus message your doctor about this, your doctor can prescribe carbocisteine (as already mention above) which will help keep mucus thin and more easily coughed up making for easier breathing. Its important to drink plenty of water to achieve this also.

Good to chat with your doctor about this if you have notice things becoming more difficult.

Best wishes BK
