I loved the BBC production but this Masterpiece production makes you feel like you are a part of “James Herriot’s” world. FANTASTIC!

Have you seen this remake?

I love the James Herriot books, and the programs but I haven't seen this morning thank you so much for sharing have a good night and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx
Yes I watched it and thought it was brilliant S5F13. I thought Sam West as Siegfried was excellent. I’ve read James Herriot’s books, seen other series and watched the films so was a bit unsure about a remake. I needn’t have worried though as it was thoroughly enjoyable. I hope there will be more. Xxx👍😘
I found one possible break in continuity, Sassy59. In this maiden year, the penultimate episode called “A Cure for All Ills”. Siegfried says “are you out of your tiny cerebellums?” I think he meant “cerebrums” where our abstract thought is produced. The cerebellum is in the back of the head and is responsible for smooth muscular movement. Cats are said to be cerebellar animals (they have a relatively large cerebellum) because of the well known “cat righting reflex”…always landing on their feet. So Siegfried saying what he said doesn’t make perfect sense. Hmmm, if only I could get a copy of the script…or speak to the screenplay writer.
I watched the new Ch5 series as well as the previous BBC series on 4 , and I think the final one was on IPlayer yesterday .Just as fresh as when they were made in 1978 ....my children loved watching them, now said children are middle aged !
You tube has videos of the museum and audiobooks of the series read by Christopher Timothy .....good bedtime listening .
I had all the books, second hand so a bit tatty , sadly I recycled them . Now have them on I books. I can read them over and over again.
Thanks for the post and info.
No so thanks for the post Shall look out for it x
BBC has some great programmes. always a great choice on the iplayer as well.
Enjoy your viewing
I live in the states and I read his books years ago, so watching the series on our public TV station was wonderful. I wish it could have continued thru his practice years (marriage, children).
