Hi to everyone mum had new bath put in after few months of putting a shower in for me. Silly idea as she loves her bath costly mistake but glad we are both catered for now as we have both now. Lol the thing is bubble bath does it effect any of you as after having a bath the effect really made my chest and breathing bad think it was the smell of it just wondered if it was just me.
Bubble bath : Hi to everyone mum had... - Lung Conditions C...
Bubble bath
Hi pokermon, Good to hear from you! Bath 🛀 sounds lovely...without the breathing issues!!!
Personally I don’t have issues with bubble bath or steam however I know some people with lung problems do seem to struggle lots with both steam and scented stuff!
I’m guessing it was your mum that added the bubble bath 🛀? Hmm, I don’t really know how best to advise other than to keep the bathroom door closed during the whole bath process and opening up a window to clear the smell, or if your mum would not use bubble bath or could find one without any fragrance? I know...that all probably sounds a bit obvious!! 🤦♀️ Or maybe she can take her bath while you’re out?
Bless you both! 🛀
I find that if I use highly scented bath products,it makes my chest a bit tight.I have found that the more expensive brands aren’t as bad for me as the cheapies.
Take care.
It's a few years now since I was able to use the bath but prior to that I found that bubble bath increasingly irritated my lungs. I tried different ones and finally bought an almost perfume free baby bath and even that caused a problem. I do miss having a relaxing soak, hope you find something that doesn't affect you.
Hiya ☺️ if I have the possibility to have a bath, not without eucalyptus, that does wonders when I can breathe in this scent with steam. I don't have a problem with it. I enjoy a bath from Time to time. I go to my sister in law when I want to take one, because we only have a big shower. But I believe everyone is different, some can do that some don't. 🍀🍀🤗
Hello Pokermon, 😊
Long time no see. I cannot stand strong smells either so, I use Epsom salts in my bath. I find it eases stress and is lovely to soak in. They come in a variety of different kinds like Eucalyptus or Lavender but I like mine plain, just the salts. The Japanese bath is almost like a ritual. 😅 We can't live without it. Enjoy your lovely bath, and your lovely mum.

I hope you are well Caspiana! I too enjoy a bath with Epsom salts. So soothing and relaxing. All the best. 🙏🍀💐
Morning Cas, I too love my bath. I have oxygen now to use when required so I use it when bathing . Love my bath .find the moisturizing after is the part that made me breathless ,but now with oxygen it's a breeze.lol. I have the bath filled to the brim this makes it easier to get in and out as my Respiratory team advised this works a treat . Oh ! The joys of getting old lol. Hope you are well. Keep safe xxSheila 💕
Why does filling it to the brim help getting out? I haven’t been able to have a bath since breaking my shoulder more than two months ago as I don’t have the strength in the damaged arm to push myself up. I really miss it, plus the pong is getting quite bad😃😃. Any tips gratefully received.
I know it sounds stupid but it makes me more buoyant. The way I get in and out is quite a fete lol. I kneel down with my back to the taps this way I dont use my arms , I can then twist my body and turn and sit down. To get out I turn around kneel and get up . It works, having the bath really full it makes it easier. Because I am on a water meter and use a lot of water every day having a bath I get a reduction in my water rates. I pay a fixed sum every month and my meter is not read. Had to get a form signed by my GP stating I need to use a bath full of water because of my breathing problems. If there was a half full bath its harder but because it's full it makes it easier to move around. No I'm not mad it works lol sounds complicated but once you get used to this method it works. Hope it works for you as I love my bath. I hate the shower. So relaxing in a full bath xxSheila 🛀🛀💕
My Respiratory team advised me on filling the bath .xx
Hi. I too love my baths and take one every morning. Due to breathing getting worse I was really struggling and thought I would have to find an alternative. Then, a lovely Occupational Therapist came to carry out an assessment. Among a load of other equipment, she provided me with an electric bath riser seat. It has been a godsend! I can still take my daily bath without any assistance. It is sheer bliss!!
Good luck. John
So sorry to hear about your arm teenieleek 😥. Water makes us buoyant , the good old Archimedes principle. So you need less power and energy to drag yourself up..It may help with your arm and be less strenuous. I think you may also be able to get a bath chair something like this. It might be helpful.
Thanks Cas, I’m hoping my muscles and tendons will repair enough to allow me to get out of the bath. I’ll try turning on to my knees or stick with showers in the meantime. I don’t really fancy the chair, silly I know.
Hello Sheila. Funnily, unlike you when I was using my oxygen I could not bear to have the bath water up to my chest. I felt like there was a huge pressure on my chest and made breathing very hard. Unfortunately, even now anything snug around my neck and chest and I still get that sensation of suffocating. But you are right, baths are glorious. Glad to see you are well. xx 🍀🌼🌿🌸
Lovely that you now have a new bath and shower. Do remind your Mum that that she can get the vat off both of them because of your health condition. Most companies don’t realise that they can do this. It doesn’t cost them anything. Your Mum signs a form saying that you need the work for a health condition and the company’s accountant submits it with their accounts. I hope that she can get it back from the company retrospectively if she didn’t think about it. I have done it lots of times and even just had the vat off a big awning on the back of my house. No company has ever had it questioned by the vat office. Good luck and I hope that you both enjoy lots of lovely showers and baths.x
Sounds good you can have a shower or bath now- suit all tastes and needs. Try the Epsom salts instead of bubbles. X
Sounds good for you and your mum. I find some scents affect me, but others do not. Expensive ones can be as bad as cheap ones.
I'm not good with strong-smelling fragrances either Pokermon 🥰
