Hi Ken that's what I was told by my consultant, then I went to my GP who said antihistamine tablets for hay fever would help. It did help but please don't rush out and try this, please speak to your GP first and get their medical advice which is very important. I'm only telling you what worked for me, not to try it unless you have had medical advice. Good luck hope you get it sorted . Have a lovely day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx

I take NAC, it helps loosen mucous from my chest and sinuses. Iget it from Amazon. I swear by it

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (it isn't the same thing as Carbocysteine). It was first prescribed to me when I had a real bad chest infection in Italy, before I was diagnosed with COPD. It seems to be available here only in capsule form which does the trick. I take 1 x 600 capsule in the morning with a hot drink and if necessary another one in the evening. If I am having an exacerbation I use 0,9% saline in my nebuliser. Don't forget to keep hydrated, that really helps to thin down the mucus. Good luck

I take2 Carbocysteine. Twice a day.it helps.i use a nebuliser twice a day.the county respiratory team loaned me the nebuliser, the GP prescribes the nebulae with the saline in.

Sometimes I use Vick. Before I go to bed.

Some years ago we were on a cruise,. My nose was bunged up and I in a dreadful state ........At dinner the steward suggested instead of coffee I had

Green tea .......without milk. at the meals end .

Ok will give it a try .......Wow. within 20 minutes my sinuses were almost clear ......my nose was running like a tap,.

and I was breathing properly. I have never forgotten that evening and have used green tea on many occasions since.

As your GP can't offer anything else perhaps green tea

could be your answer.

Jo. 🙂

Hi, Carbocysteine only helps the lungs, not sinuses. I've had sinus issues my whole adult life caused by 1. allergies, 2., escape tubes being too small/narrow causing blocked sinus cavities causing humongous week long headaches. Was treated for years for migraine until a chance head scan for a different issue showed the full cavities. Had an op to drain them. The ENT consultant at St George's told me the very best thing was saline and reccomend saline douche with Sterimar. I used steroid nasal spray for many years which you can now buy over the counter.

I've had long term sinus problems - the specialists recommended nasal rinses every day but also gave me a leaflet about dust-mites which can cause an allergic reaction. I'm also on a daily steroid nasal spray. The old fashioned remedy was inhaling the steam from menthol & eucalyptus.

It's really common prob in those of us with lung disease..I use steroid spray on prescription, all year round + I take otc antihistamine- usually loratidine or cetrizine. I've learnt to clear sinuses by taking up and into throat and expectorate.kit helps.i do have to use the nnsespray at least 2x a day and have to persevere.x

Hi Ken, I suffer from asthma, COPD and bronchoectatis. Being a retired pharmacist I try to keep

up with new ideas. One is Avamys - nasal spray that certainly seems to help. Only available on prescription but my asthma nurse seemed happy enough to write me a script when I asked her.

I use avamys too

Avamys sorted me out which I got from my respirologist and I always keep a box of Potters capsules now to keep me clear. Sterimar is also a big help.
