Nebulised Gemamicin
Yes I tried it in 1998. Unfortunately, although it reduced the mucus to small amounts of a sticky glue like substance I became extremely breathless and could hardly walk. After I had taken myself off it, it took six months to get back to normal. I have since nebulised colistin, tobramycin and, for many years, ceftazidime. Ceftazidime is the only one which I did not react to but even that is now a no no. We are all different and tolerate or react differently. There is no doubt that when tolerated, nebulised antibiotics are very effective. The only way to find out is to try it. If you begin to get tightness, wheezy or breathless, stop it and tell your consultant. Good luck. I hope that it is good for you.
Thank you littlepom l have been on it for 4 days now have decided to carry on for 7 days and see what happens l did ask to have the cafrdezime nebulised but was told it wasn't possible will see how things go x
The consultant can prescribe cef offline. I had it for 18 yrs. They try the others first because they are required to. It took about 3 wks for the reaction to gent, tob and col to set in. 🤞 gent is ok for you.
Thankyou so much l will have another word with consultant. I am finding it really hard to come back from this last set back. I am determined not to give in but sometimes you feel you are taking on the world when trying to hold your ground with clinicians. x
Oh that is so true. It is so hard when we are already so exhausted and debilitated.
