How do you know if you have pleurisy?

I woke up with chest pain on Monday 29th March which is worse when I breathe deeply. I went to the emergency room, and ECG and temperature and oxygen sats all normal. I thought I was anxious but the pain is still with me today (Saturday) if I breathe shallowly it's ok, but then I need to take a deep breath and it hurts so I try not to breathe too deeply. No other symptoms. Could this be pleurisy?

Hello Pen12 welcome to the forum. I would advise you to speak to your doctor. We are not able to diagnose so please seek medical help.

I wish you well. X

It could be, a doctor can tell through a stethoscope from the sounds. There are different sounds for different lung ailments. I've had it several times & agree its very painful. In fact tge pain is very similar to fractured ribs which I've also experienced more than once. If it is pleurisy it needs to be treated, three of mine turned in to pneumonia as did my daughter's. Do see a doctor, you can't mess about with lungs. Good luck. P
