Ack feeling anxious again!!😥

I have had a bronchoscopy, mine was done under mild sedation, I was aware but did not feel any discomfort, it is a very fine camera inserted through the nose into the lungs, not as horrible as it sounds as I expect like me you will be given sedation. No need for you to be sorry about posting, people on this site do understand and want to support and comfort you wherever they can. Being anxious is normal, this is happening to you right now so you are bound to be. You have two things going on that are very concerning. From my own experience whilst you may try to stay positive it is not always that easy as the mind runs riot at times but please remember we are all here to support you and will be wishing for the best outcome for you. There is a site Myeloma UK where you can get help, advice and support but see what your consultants say first as they are your first point of contact. I wish I could give you a hug but can only send virtual hugs. Please do let us know how you get on after your appointment on Monday or if you want to chat again before then you can. 🤗 Hugging face emoji is the nearest I can do to give you a hug. xx
Hi, I found that anticipating a bronchoscopy was far worse than the event. The waking sedation they give first didn't have any effect on me but they also spray the back of your throat with local anaesthetic and I didn't feel a thing when the bronchcoscope was inserted. The assisting nurse stayed by my side throughout the procedure.
I'm sure that you will probably remain anxious if only worrying about the outcome of your test and I wish you well in that respect. After a while in the recovery area after mine, the consultant came to tell me what his findings were so there was little waiting for the result. Best wishes to you x
Hi,
I had a bronchosopy. I was a nervous wreck before it.
It was fine, mild sedation made me feel a bit drunk and floaty. The only uncomfortable bit was the spray in the nose and throat, it numbs you a bit to stop you sneezing/gagging. That stung for a bit less than a second as it kicked in.
The camera had to be passed down my throat to my lungs because I have a small nose.
All the staff were kind and reassuring.
It really isn't as awful as you think it will be.
Just want to wish you well for Monday Paulamg. I hope you’ve been reassured a little by the wonderful replies you’ve had so far.
Thinking of you. Xxx💜
Hi Paulamg,
Sorry you’ve got so much going on just now! No wonder you feel anxious. Hope your test goes well on Monday and that the results don’t take too long to come back. It’s a horrible thing when you don’t know exactly what you have to deal with. Sending you hugs 🤗

Just want to wish you well for the procedure. I'm sure it will all be fine. 💐
When I had my bronchoscopy I went to sleep 💤 Didn’t feel a thing, only woke up when the nurse was putting my glasses back on.
Snackjack is right; a bronchoscopy is not nearly as horrible as it sounds. Mine was quick, painless (under sedation), with no aftereffects. i hope they can get to the root of your trouble and deal with it soon.
