Cruise ships being what they are in resp infection especially covid

Latest from Saga says their first cruise on 4th May needs passengers to have had vaccine inc 2nd dose with a fortnight having passed before embarking. Close call for many. I wonder if they get a full ship !

I don't think I would take the risk.

Me neither

I still wouldn't risk it. The crew wouldn't be vaccinated. Most too young.

I wouldn’t go on a cruise but wouldn’t have had a 2nd jab by then anyway. Xxxx

Here we go! The start of having to have had the vaccine. Do you think this is right? What about those who cannot have it? Are they never going to be able to holiday again? Will it be pubs, restaurants, cinemas ..........the list could be endless! Nobody asks for proof of flu jab (I know it's not the same, just being devil's advocate ;) ).

Frankly, for myself, I don't give a rat's wotsit, holidays have never bothered me. However, if I were going, especially this year, I would be holidaying in this country as OUR tourism industry need us! And yes, I have had my jab!!

😘😘 xx

it will cause ructions if everyone does that.but you have to get some other vaccs to go abroad. I cannot inmagine having to show vacc details to go to cinema !

Saga do lots of river and coach tours too, where space is restricted. they do have the advantage that their passengers are over 50 anyway and a number of them already had vacc.

i do feel sorry for the small cruise ship businesses. Some are already going bankrupt . I only have been with Saga and they are good if you are not very mobile as they do cater for those of us in many ways. The crew are from phillipines and spend their lives with saga. they are such friendly caring people.

If you fly have just heard 7 hrs wait to get through passport control coming home.

Nothing is worth that.. spent 20 years going to remote greek islands with my husband but

gave up flying, when it began to be too much hassle .

I then preferred to go with saga on cruise from uk. Picked up from door in private car and driven to port . Driver takes luggage and dont see it again until it arrives outside cabin. Did that for 10 years after i broke my l leg and wasnt so active. It served its purpose of seeing different places in europe, even into the ice pack around the north pole. but havent done anything for 3 years now..New ships and cost so much more than they used to.

. Not allowed now unless on small expedition boats using less hazardous fuel. Ships are like planes a cause of high emissions, but Hurtigruten now only take their electric ships to the arctic and antarctic regions.

Most other cruise lines have cancelled until end of June.

I can see that happening with all travel ,like having to have had the yellow fever jab for certain countries. They will probably have some sort of exemption certificate for those who can't have it for whatever reason?

Still to risky for my opinion. I would love to go somewhere, but it's still to much to take care off, special when you are vulnerable.

I guess it's still to early to have a peaceful holiday, earliest next year I guess.

I agree with all comments, far to risky for your own health. Or get a big boot that you don't need to share ☺️

Absolutely the last thing I would want to do!

I certainly wouldn't risk going anywhere with Saga. Overseas trips on hold this year possibly Goa early next.
