Very worried

Hi everyone. I am in a very anxious state at the mo. My daughter who works in a school is having to isolate as one of her colleagues and a child have tested positive. She lives with me. I have copd and i had my first vaccine just over 2 weeks ago.

I am really worried. So far the lateral flow test she has done is negative.

I just need reassurance as i am so worried. We do all we can to stay safe.

So sorry Collie4, I guess you and your daughter know that you need to isolate from each other at home also. (or quarantine)

Act as if your daughter is infected, she needs to quarantine in her room, wipe all surfaces down she is in contact with, perhaps she will do this after she uses the bathroom etc.

nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir...

gov.uk/government/publicati...

Hopefully your daughter does not have covid. You will feel easier once she gets her test results.

Take good care. Stay well and safe.

Thank you for replying. Yes she is staying in her room. We have to share the same bathroom and toilet but i take my antibacterial wipes and i also use white vinegar because i cant use strong chemical stuff. My hands are sore through washing! I am hoping she is negative with the lateral flow tests she has to do. I am trying to stay calm because as we all know getting anxious can cause a flare up and i am so trying to avoid that.

We have snow and it is very cold so i can’t go out for a walk but i have my windows open. Heating on and windows open isn’t very economical but i don’t care at the moment.!

Fortunately i have space outside so my dogs happy .

I hope everyone is staying safe and as well as can be.

So nice to keep in touch with people who understand.

I do find my lungs can't even tolerate vinegar ! I'm ok with anti bacterial hand wash, gels and wipes though, I'm ok with dettol anti bac surface spray too.

For sore hands the Epaderm cream is excellent, you can probably get some on Amazon. Use after every hand wash.

So good to hear you are staying as safe as possible. I don't think you need to have windows open all day. Just change the air whenever any one other than you enters the room, of course a bathroom window left open may be a good idea though since its a shared space.

Keep warm x

I use white vinegar diluted in water. But sometimes it does affect me. I have antibac wipes from a natural website, eco friendly and apparently ok for people with breathing probs. I will look on amazon for the hand cream, thank you. I’m using vaseline intensive care at the mo.

I so wish things would get better for us. It’s almost a year now with all this extra worry.

We have to stay positive and stay safe and hope for the best.🙂

Looking forward to spring and summer when most of the population would have had their 2nd jab and we can enjoy some warmer days outside :) x x

I have so far not had sore hands through washing them. The reason I think this is, is I use a different make in kitchen from bathroom. I take it in turns using each one. Am convinced that has helped.Hope news is good for you all.

I hope your daughter stays negative Collie. I do understand your worries as our son, who lives here, also had a scare but his rest can’t back negative.

Just be vigilant, hygiene precautions and isolate from each other whenever possible. Ventilate your home if you can too.

Wishing you the very best. Xxx

So sorry this is such a worrying time for you but I’m sure if you take all the precautions you can as you seem to be doing you will be ok. My daughter contracted covid through her sons nursery and she and her husband were really very poorly , it was a very worrying time for the family , but other adults in the home never contracted it. They all kept to their own rooms , used the kitchen and bathroom at separate times taking all the precautions you’ve mentioned and came out unscathed Hopefully your daughter will be clear but if not it by no means means you will be infected xx

I’m glad your family are ok and hope you all stay safe. 🙂

Stress and worry is so bad for us and you really need to try and keep calm. You are doing your best, you have limited protection against covid, you are doing the isolating you need. Less worry will help. Please, please start to relax and keep your resistance in tip top condition ☺️and you will fight it all. Take care and give us all an update soon 💕

I hope that your daughter's tests remain negative and that you both stay well. My sister works in a junior school and had to self isolate after coming into contact with someone who had tested positive last October. She didn't test positive at any stage.

As everyone has already said I hope the test proves negative but meantime follow all the precautions to protect yourself. Is it approx 3 weeks after vaccine that protects from covid19 virus? Hope you have antibodies developing already. Very best wishes to you.

Oh that’s so kind of you, thank you. All good at mo.🙂 just hoping and praying it stays that way. My daughter’s staying in her room doing work on laptop. Want these next days to go now and hopefully all will be well. Negative test at mo. 🙂It’s so nice to have friends on her.

I miss people coming to my house, but video with my grandchildren. Not the same as hugs in person. 🙁

Keeping fingers crossed for you and daughter staying safe and well. Its a blessing to have face time but as you say not the same as embracing those wonderful little bodies and bundles of fun :) x x
