Inhaler shortage.

I have been using Bricanyl as my reliever inhaler for over four years now. For the first time, yesterday it was missing from my repeat prescription and have to wait for a text message when it arrives at the pharmacy. Understandable I suppose, it is made by AstraZeneca. There are a few puffs left in the old one I will have to try and ration them.

Hopefully it will come soon . My local pharmacy as had a few shortages but when I ask my daughter who works in a different pharmacy with a different supplier she says that they have no shortage. She as told me to ring boots in the past as if they cannot get it it is a genuine shortage not a supplier short fall.

Unfortunately there is only Ventolin, which does not work for me. I could if push comes to shove take an extra puff of my Fostair 200/6, but there is a price to pay of excessive bruising that can appear just from pressure, ie. sleeping, from the steroid content which is double the standard 100/6 dose already. I will just have to try and remain sedimentary and not exert myself, that may help.

Thank you - quite scary if this problem becomes more prevalent.

Hi,

Let your doctor know. They may send a prescription to another pharmacy for you.
