So sorry Mickie, no wonder you're scared. Many people with bronchiectasis take long term antibiotics either on 3 days a week over winter as I do or more often and for longer periods. Perhaps speak to your gp or consultant about doing similar for your IPF to avoid exacerbations & infections? Thinking of you xx P

Hope hospitalisation not necessary Michael, and hope IPF not too far advanced (I know nothing about IPF I'm afraid). Wish you well - please keep us updated.

Thinking of you Michael and hope you escape a hospital stay, at least you can now deal with the problem. I dont know enough about IPF to advise you but fingers crossed you are in the early stages and it is mild x

Michael, I hope that you had a good rest and that your emotional rollercoaster is coasting more smoothly for you. A new diagnosis is a shock with so much of the future in a cloud Learning to be your own advocate will be an ongoing process for you but perhaps start by finding out if the antibiotics you are taking are what is most useful to you and whether your blood or sputum samples have indicated the most effective antibiotic for you at this time. If not, why not?

If you are hospitalised it is the likely process that will be followed but perhaps you can get it started at home. They also will want to check out your Covid status if you are being admitted and I hope that your tests are already negative.

I have been living with IPF for some time ( certainly past the sell by date I was given ) so hang in there for the slowing of the rollercoaster. Itโ€™s great when it happens.

Take care. Do ask questions and get answers by let anyone help who can.

Thank you for your reply I shall definitely ask my gp about the antibiotics though never thought about that I will recieve a call from BLF specialist nurse to go over some understanding of my illness. Happy new year and thanks again. Michael ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
