It's been a brilliant inhaler for me. Been on it for years.😊
Hello Nantucket, like Hollyjt I have also been on Symbicort for a good many years & find it most beneficial.
Thank you .
Hiya, I’ve been on it since June of this year. I had a few minor side effects that went away after a while. I found relvar Ellipta even better for SOB, but it kept giving me chest infections. Good luck
Hi , like others I have been taking it for years . Was offered trilogy, but preferred to stay with Symbicort.
The only thing is to make sure you rinse and gargle after each use and maintain dental health ....
Because of Covid have had difficulty getting to a dentist and have suffered with oral Thrush, which is now gone thank goodness .😄.
Jo......😊
I’ve been on Symbicort since 2012, and thankfully had no issues and fine, but agree you must rinse/gargle mouth after using though.
Good luck with it Nantucket.
I have also been on Symbicort for years and was put on Trellegy beginning of this year tried it for 3 months and am now back on Symbicort Trellegy did not agree with me at all just make sure you gargle and if you do get thrush keep some Daktarin on hand which you can buy over the counter in the Chemist and it will clear it up straight away Good Luck.
Hi
Another happy Symbicort user here (long-term asthmatic). My dose instructions are two puffs each morning and night with the option of reducing to one puff morning and night if I feel super well.
I need the two puffs most winters to help with colds/infections, etc., and in the spring and summer to help with hayfever etc., so don't often drop down but I do try!
I have also been advised to double my standard dose if I think that I am having the start of a chest infection. This dose would only be maintained for a short time.
As others have said, always rinse your mouth well (don't swallow the water but spit it out).
My mother used a similar inhaler but perhaps didn't rinse well enough and ended up with Lichen Planus, a fungal infection in her mouth so I know how important rinsing is!
Symbicort dies a great job for me.
Brilliant, couldnt live without it.
I couldn't tolerate Fostair (and any other aerosol inhaler, for that matter), but I am fine with Symbicort Turbohaler. Not entirely sure it has a significant effect (I'm on 2 puffs of 200/6 a day, and could take more), but my asthma/COPD seems to have been stable for about 4 years.
best inhaler a have had could not walk 100 yards without getting out of breath now i can walk a mile into the town (it works for me )
Used it for 3 years without a problem. Very effective.
I have used Symbicort for 4 years with great results and no side effects. I am on the 160/4.5 dose. Here's important things as a patient - IMHO - Be sure to rinse your mouth after taking the medication. To make it easy, I do my meds, THEN brush my teeth. The reason to rinse is to avoid potential for thrush.
I am religious in taking this medication as directed: 2 puffs each morning and 2 puffs each night. It is likely that my strict compliance with the routine helps with the effectiveness.
SOME people may experience sore throat from use. I have not.
SOME people may develop a dry cough from use. I have not.
It works, and I can tell by 9 AM if I have occasionally forgotten to take my Symbicort! It's a great medication.
🙂
I've been on Symbicort and Fostair and had to come off, in my experience everything stops working sooner or later, i'm on Trimbow now and that's stopped working so well
