Good afternoon everyone, I have now been taking Manuka Honey over a week, and upto now I have found that it has suppressed my cough, making me bring up less mucus on a daily basis? Has anyone else found this whilst taking it.

Kind regards

Joe x

Hello Joe, I checked your profile and noted you have severe bronchiectasis. I also have this condition which is accompanied by an irritating cough. I am a little concerned as you will know we sufferers have to expel the mucous in our lungs on a daily basis. This involves the breathing, huffing and coughing up method to bring up the phlegm. I also use an acapella to help to do this. I believe manuka honey and other honey is very useful for coughs in general. By that I mean the kind of cough relating to having a cold. My concern is should we try to suppress our coughing using anything including honey as we need to bring up the phlegm to clear our lungs. I find your question very interesting and look forward to other members replies.

Cheers for now.

Hi there, thank you for your response. Unfortunately I now think people have been confused by my original post. I was asking if other people taking the Honey had found that their coughs had been suppressed also? Or was this just coincidence? I understand the honey I quoted apparently does some natural good to the respiratory system but I won’t continue to take if it is going to stop my cough, as I need to exhale large amounts of mucus daily. I also have a flutter device and I have postural draining twice a day.

Kind regards as always

Joe
