When to renew green tubing ? When the engineer comes out to check it over every 3 months I am given 3 new canullas (sp) but I am wondering how often should the green hose be renewed, I have had machine about 3 years now . I mean it gets trailed about the house , gets jammed under doors , trod on etc Any body got any thoughts on this ? Thanks .

Hi tall mama,

I test my green tubing every week to check for leaks that I haven't noticed. It's easily done by passing the tube through a bowl/ bucket of water same as checking for a leak in a bicycle tube. I haven't had my green tube replaced for over a year now- " if it ain't broke why fix it? "

I am concerned that it appears you only have one cannula a month. What happens if you have a cold or other infection? I change mine each week when I check my green tube and if I have an infection of any sort then it's a daily rinse through with antibacterial soap or change the cannula completely.

When I get low on cannulae I contact my oxygen supplier and they send me more through the post.

Hope this helps. Regards Geronimo.

My engineer told me tubing is fine and only needs changing when it discolours. Mine is clear though so not sure how you’d notice that if green. Mine is nearly 3 years old. I also use mine as you do plus dragging it around the garden and into the shed. Oh! And the cat has the odd fight with it! I only change my cannula occasionally, I clean regularly with antibacterial wipe. Joy x
